Which Steeler, other than Ben, will throw a pass?

Postby stillerguy » Wed Jan 28, 2009 2:04 pm

Surely Arian has something up his sleeve. He must have been doing something all season.

I'm betting that we see #86 throw to #83.

I also have a feeling that Arians will indeed go to a trick play during the SB. Whether it be a shovel pass, or possibly a hook and ladder, or even a play with some form of a wild-cat formation. We showed it in pre-season and didn't use it once. They are playing in OUR game and we can indeed beat them at THEIR own game.

none, they didnt pay ben 100 million to put the ball in someone elses hands in the sb. The only reason they let el throw in sb40 was because whizenhunt new bens nerves never came under control, hines or someone said that this morning in the press conferences.

Arians too dumb to call a trick play but if he were to do it let Melwede throw a pass... Bettis used to throw a HB option every now and then.

leftwich if anything. im sure after we're winning by 30 pts in the 4th quarter he can get some garbage time play

That would be nice but if its one thing about Arizona that isn't overhyped and that's the WR's. Warner will get his yards and tds but like in Super XXXVI he's going to give the other team some points as well. Steelers will win but don't count on any garbage time.

i know i was half joking. seriously speaking though i dont expect any pass thrown by anyone other than ben, other than leftwich due to injury, or maybe even garbage time. sure arizona's offense is good, but i wouldn't count on them scoring over 14 against our D

McLovin likes the enthusiasm Nino...holding that trio of wrs to 14 would be quite the feat. Deion and Rod likes the matchup vs. our corners for Fitz and the other two but McLovin would rather put his faith in nino's prediction.

lebeau has 2 weeks to prepare and defensively has come in with some good gameplans in the postseason. the cards being a weak running team but pass-happy, i expect timmons to get a lot of play time. timmons having a lack of play time this year its possible that the cards dont gameplan for him being in a good portion of the game. i also liked the blitz packages lebeau had against balt where it was just aaron smith as the only DL and the rest were linebackers and extra dbs. our D has the personnel to pull this kinda stuff off, and they're as deep in the secondary as ive ever seen em (deshea and gay are probably the best non-starting db's in the league, ike and mcfadden are big physical corners that match up well vs the cards wr's, clark delivers big hits over the middle, and we all know how good polamalu is). arizona is going to have a rough time if they think they're gonna go pass happy on our defense

I thought this was a pretty funny question considering that Arians thinks a halfback sweep a "trick play". :dunce:

I would like to think that we have something in the bag. With our run up the gut mentality, I would think a flea flicker would be an option since I beleive most defenses will bite hard on it against this offense. the only issue there is if the interior line can hold the point and not allow someone to come free.
