LeBeau Retiring?
I'm hearing rumors that DC Dick LeBeau is thinking of retiring should the Steelers win the SB. I don't have any references, just watercooler talk. Anyone else heard anything? That would be a very dark day for the Steelers nation, IMHO.

It would be neat having Tomlin put more of an imprint on this defense. (besides showing how great he is with DB's)
Re: LeBeau Retiring?
don't know whether i should be surprised or not. he's spent a lot of time in the nfl and is getting up there in years. on the other hand, he seems to be in top health for someone his age, and doesn't show any signs of slowing down.
anyway i hope it's just a rumor.

This rumor was also on the Steelers.com earlier in the week on their message board. A poster said he heard it on a sirius with Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan of NFL network. If true LeBeau is keeping it tight lipped because Douchette or any of the local idiots no nothing about it. Let's say he is retiring....Is it a distraction, or will Lebeau's defense play extra inspired to send him into retirement with another Super Bowl ring kind of like they did for Bettis? Who will be the next d-coordinator...John Mitchell?

If he is retiring I think this defense will play even more inspired than they have all year. I'm not big into thinking players get more inspired but knowing that it could be a legend like Lebeau's last game would have to have an impact on an already intense defense.
And if this is Lebeau's last game I think it would be pretty awesome to see some of the defensive players carry Lebeau off the field after hoisting the lombardi

Just so long as the NFL gets the memo to the referees that they are supposed to call another one in our favor so that another one of our coaches can ride off into the sunset as a winner.

Kind of like the Bears did with Buddy Ryan in '85...Iron Mike had to have hated that! McLovin likes the enthusiam...Lake has the "Rudy" spirit in him!
