Re: Steelers Injury Situation for Super Bowl
I was glad to hear Tomlin told Timmons to stay home with his illness. We don't need a Typhoid Timmons episode! (also good to know he should have it kicked in time for the SB)

Re: Steelers Injury Situation for Super Bowl
Hines just interviewed by Deion didn't mention when he could practice but talked about his round the clock treatment. Has a personal doctor giving him stem treatment etc. Said he was in a brace last week but not this week.

Re: Steelers Injury Situation for Super Bowl
Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward (knee) said his knee is feeling better but it will not be 100 percent for Super Bowl XLIII. "It feels better. I don't have a brace on, I walk around fine. It's not going to be 100 percent, I'm not going to trick anybody, but I think I'm going to be good, to be able to go out and perform like I want to," Ward said.
coach Mike Tomlin said WR Hines Ward (knee) is considered day-to-day and will not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 28, because he has not worked on Wednesdays for the last several weeks.

Re: Steelers Injury Situation for Super Bowl
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward (knee) is listed as questionable for Super Bowl XLIII.
ESPN.com reports Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward (knee) said he will likely wear a knee brace during the Super Bowl. "I think I have to play with it," Ward said. "In case you fall down on it, you don't want to re-injure falling down. The thing is, you want to play with a brace and make sure it doesn't affect your route-running ability. Time will tell."

Re: Steelers Injury Situation for Super Bowl
Call me crazy but I love Sweed's chances of making a big play or two Sunday. He did have the well chronicled, inexcusable drop..which could have hurt..real bad.. However he did continue to play hard with the decleating of Ivey and made a very big 3rd and 11 coversion. Ben showed confidence in him and I believe he will target him again this Sunday..for a BIG play.
The Cards will be paying close attention to Santonio and Hines..and to a lesser extent Miller. Washington and Sweed(assuming Hines will be less than 100%) will have to be ready to step up..
I feel the Steelers will have no problem establishing a good ground game and Ben will shred them when they start stacking against it. This game will not be as close as the media is trying to convince everyone...
Steelers win by 2 TD's ..at least.

Re: Steelers Injury Situation for Super Bowl
passing game will have a lot of opportunities to make plays imo. im thinking the cards are going to try to stop our run first. whisenhunt im sure is well aware of the fact that the steelers rarely ever lose if they have success running the ball
in 20 years i think i can still count on 1 hand how many times ive seen the steelers lose when we have a rusher over 100 yds
basically if we can run the ball vs these guys, we win, no question. if they can stop our run, ben will have opportunities for big plays. hopefully sweed can come up with a big play. he's gotten himself open and in position for big plays in the last 2 weeks, let's see if he can catch one this time

Re: Steelers Injury Situation for Super Bowl
Steelers WR Hines Ward (knee) participated in practice Friday for the second straight day. He is listed as probable on the injury report for Super Bowl XLIII, though coach Mike Tomlin has insisted Ward will play.
Ward returned to practice Thursday for the first time in 11 days after suffering an injury in the AFC Championship Game against Baltimore. Ward was the only Pittsburgh player listed on the injury report.
For the Cardinals, DE Antonio Smith (knee) had full participation in practice after limited duty throughout the week. He is listed as probable for the Super Bowl.
Three Cardinals players were limited in practice, as they have been all week: RB J.J. Arrington (knee), P Ben Graham (left groin) and DE Travis LaBoy (biceps). The trio is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.

right there with you...hopefully Sweed has his head on straight after watching 2 weeks worth of highlights of him dropping an easy td. He has great size and could be a huge weapon down on the goal line, where we've struggled all year. Look for Ben to toss one up on a fade route to him on Sunday...

Hodge:
Don't care who makes the big plays as long as we win.
That being said it would be nice to see Sweed make a play or two.
He is probably not going to be a Reggie Wayne type receiver but he is going to be a solid steady one in my opinion. Just like last year everyone was down on Timmons now he is showing he can be a beast. Most teams (other than AZ) would love to have a 4th receiver like Sweed. On most teams he would be a 2 or 3 out of necessity.

...true, but we've struggled on the goal line all year. My point is that it would be nice to use Sweed's size to our advantage (for once), which the Cards can surely do inside the 10 yd line with Fitz, Boldin....
