NFL investigating Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive Lineman
On monday morning the NFL started an investigation of the Pgh Steelers Offensive Line. According to the referees on the field it was not the Offensive Line listed on their roster. The NFL's front office is viewing tapes today to attempt to aquire the actual identities of these perpetrators. San Diego HC Norv Turner was ranting about this the entire game to no avail but after the game he filed an official complaint to the NFL. Though nothing has come of these allegations the question remains "Who were those guys?"
We decided to ask a few members of the San Diego Defense if they noticed if they were in fact the players from the Pittsburgh Steelers. One unnamed defender replied, " I don't know, every time I tried to look at the guys they knocked me down and told me to stay down!"
When asked about this Pittsburgh Steeler Head Coach Mike Tomlin replied." We are who we are"
Atready the Baltimore front office has demanded DNA tests prior to the game.

Excellent post. Our line looked like they have been playing possum all year long.
I couldn't believe we had a RUNNING game and Ben had all day to pick his poison.
Absolutely amazing.

Re: NFL investigating Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive Lineman
The line did look good yesterday. I was at the game and other than the one blown assignment where Ben got sacked they gave him good protection. This was a huge improvment over the second half of the first SD game.
I do think the line is playing better as a unit.
This week will be the test. FWP will not get 146 against the Ravens (unless he breaks a 80yd run along the way). However, if they give Ben some time we will pick them apart.

Re: NFL investigating Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive Lineman
Igor Olshansky credited Willie's excellent vision for his big day not the OL. He said that the Ravens would dominate our OL and that Willie would not be able to run against them. He kind of ripped his own team no?

Re: NFL investigating Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive Lineman
That was funny. I am thinking that the struggles they worked through all year have helped them get some unity that might be a key through the rest of these playoffs. There are definitely still some letdowns...but only one real breakdown last week. They still do not have the skills for great screens...but if they can give Ben close to as much time as they gave him against the chargers...they'll have Heinz feild rocking and the Steelers will be rolling!
Re: NFL investigating Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive Lineman
The injuries to key Raven stalworts like Scott and Suggs will have greater impact on Ben remaining upright than anything the OL does. Hloti Ngata better than anything San Diego has to offer and Steve Cooper and Matt Wilhelm no where close to level of Ray Lewis and Bad Bart Scott. Colonoscopy and Stapleton need to knock off the stupid penalties that have plagued Larry Porn's unit all year long...he should be fired the second Mr. Rooney raises the Super Bowl trophy.

Clever...
We're giving a lot of credit to the OL for turning it around, but I don't want them to get all puffed up into having a let down at the worst possible time.
Let's not forget...
1> A blown assignment still got Ben sacked, and SD didn't pose nearly the threat up front that Balto will.
2> Our "Big Willie Style" running on Sunday might be just as easily attributed to the more frequent use of McHugh as a lead blocker as it could improvements in the play of the OL. You might have noticed that, even with all those yards, Willie wasn't nearly as productive when he was all alone as when McHugh was in there to block. Credit (*gulp*) Arians for finally waking up...
3> As somebody else keeps pointing out, Colon and Stapleton STILL got flagged for stupid mistakes at the STUPIDEST possible times. This is something that has had me cussing and spitting and throwing things all year. They may have been a little better at this on Sunday, but not very much.
Maybe I'm just being pessimistic, but I will reserve any praise for this OL until AFTER we win the Superbowl.
Since day 1 of this season, they have been the Achilles Heel of this team, and the ONLY unknown in whether or not we have what it takes to be champions.

Several points to agree with here: First of all McHugh as the lead blocker is the key to willie's resurgence. The line not doing shit up til his insertion as lead blocker. Keep McHugh the full-time FB and keep Davis and his stupid plunges into the line of scrimmage on the bench. And McLovin' the biggest Colon basher (gay pun intended as poor attempt at humor) there is. Find a spot for him and Larry Porn on the unemployment line as it was Larry Porn who favored Colon over Starks to begin with DUMB DUMB DUMB. The talent on Ravens front 7 vastly superior to Chargers. NGata and Lewis much better than Cooper and Wilhelm and whatever stiffs were whiffing on willie all day.

I thought the same thing. Amazing what a franchise Quarterback can do with an Offensive Line, and a decent run game behind him. Imagine him behind the Colt's lineman, or New England's lineman and you got the scariest Quarterback in the last 2 decades.
What the hell do I know, even without those things he's been the scariest Quarterback in the league that just WINS BABY

I dunno, remember Tom Brady in the last full game he played? When his line was exposed, he looked like a fool and had no idea what to do as the leader of "the most explosive offense in history" ( )
I think that maybe Ben running for his life once in a while keeps him a lot sharper on his feet. He's always been more deadly when he's on the move.
I just wish it was a lot more "once in a while" and not so frequent that he's unsure and shitting himself on every snap, like we've seen all too often over the past two seasons...

I bet "sad-sack" Alan Fanecca is not happy that his sorry ass landed on a team that will not be going to a SuperBowl anytime soon. HAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

good points on mchugh being big for the running game. also anyone notice mewelde moore doing a great job picking up blitzes? I'm glad we picked up this guy as our 3rd down back, cause parker can't pick up the blitz for crap.

I have to admit: I didn't recognize that OL Sunday. What a super pleasant surprise.

easy there...
He also blew it big time on the play that Ben was sacked by that blitzer coming off the left edge. That was Moore's assignment, and he was fiddle-farting inside right behind the O Line while Ben was getting smacked...
Mind you, he's good, and a decent pickup, but Parker has had lots more opportunity to screw up over the years, and has improved noticeably with his blitz pickup...
