Why doesn't Ben...

Postby WoodsonOfSteel » Sun Jan 04, 2009 3:15 am

... learn how to throw the ball in a rhythm?

Has Anderson and Arians forgotten about the whole 3 and 5 step-drop 'n pop concept?

Maybe they're not to blame.

I think Ben doesn't have 'it' when it comes to read and recognition. Sure he's been known to scramble and make plays happen... But really... Those plays used to have some frequency and now, it seems they're few and far between.

How many steps does a receiver have to have on a defender before Ben will throw them the ball? I see great QBs zip the ball into very tight spaces with ease in split-second throws.

Why doesn't Ben just drop back and throw the ball?

Maybe the routes take too long to develop? Time to break everything down to 3-5 yard quick slants and curls?

I'uno. The OLine does suck... But all in all... I think Ben holds on to the ball waaaay too long because he's got a dee-dee-deeeee streak in 'em.

I've been saying this for 2 years now but I suspect there is mor to t and I will explain my theory.

I believe the plays are picked by Ben and this limits the plays we run to only the ones that Ben likes. He has lobbied for more passing for awhile now and now he has what he wanted, problem is that every team knows what we are going to run based on the limited plays we run from each formation and that Ben doesn't like the quick hits or screen passes. Most Defenses do not even protect agaist them. They set up 12 -15 yards back of WR's and they are turning upfield at the snap not waiting for the receiver to make a move. So a big part of the play calling bull goes on his shoulders and Arians gets all the blame. Ken's hands are tied because Ben is uncoachable because he thinks he knows it all so the offense is at Bens; mercy and right now he can not produce.

I don't think i've ever seen a quarterback throw as bad a screen pass as does Ben.

Ben has serious issues this year. He needs a new OC, a new QB coach, and an off season to clear his head.

I just hope Tomlin is quick to pull Ben if he sucks it up on Sunday. The better QB is sitting on the bench. If I have to watch Ben lose this game for us while a better QB is sitting on the bench I'll have a complete nervous break down.

All I can really do is pray that some thing clicks in Ben's head and he's suddenly a different QB then what we've seen all season. Either that or our running game will have to take over. Frankly I have no faith in Ben right now. It's been a long time since I've seen him play like a good QB.

It will be tough for Tomlin to pull Ben out of this game. Thus lets hope Ben is ready to go. I do like that fact that we have a capable back up. Unless Ben gets knocked out I think it will be his game.

That being said I do not think he will lay an egg. I say against a weak SD defense he will be about 20-28/260 yds/2 TD's/1 Int.

I just want to see a game that we jump on someone early so we can really turn our D loose.

Oh, really? Well how many superbowls has that better QB won? How many playoff games? Please define "better".

Coke Oven;

I agree, we do not appriciate what we have. Would you others rather have Pennington or Ryan than Ben?

I like lefty and he is a quality backup but there is a reason he is still not with the Jags or Falcons.

Unless he is still feeling the effects of the concussion you dance with the one that brought you.
