#1 Seed in playoffs Superbowl Champs?

Postby Reinvented Steel » Mon Dec 22, 2008 4:13 pm

I can't for the life of me remember a #1 seed winning it all in the past few years and I'm too lazy to look it up. Anyone know how long it's been since a #1 seed won the SB?

I'm glad we lost honestly. You know everyone says they know this and they know that, but I for one knew the Steelers were going to lay an egg against the TITIES, because the TITIES are coming off a terrible lost to a terrible team and the Stillers are coming off hard faught wars the last few weeks, it takes a toll on your body. But, this lost is for the betterment of the team as we soon will find out. I hope we play the tits if they get past the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisonal round and shit they may lose.

It is going to be Indianapolis @ Pittsburgh
and Baltimore @ Tennessee

P.S. I would love to see Miami win the 3 seed and beat Baltimore, but that's not going to happen, watch Miami lose this week to the JETS and faggot New England wins the division.
Dynasty in the making..........

We have the pieces to the puzzle.

I think I heard somewhere that #1 seeds (NFC and AFC) have made it to the super bowl 38% of the time since the few format was put in place. #2 sees are something like 27% and all other seeds are lower.

And judging by the Steelers success in '05, 6th seeds have a 100% chance of winning it if they get there.

The last three Super Bowl champs have come from the WC round.

Food for thought for the No. 1 and 2 seeds.

as much as i hate to say it, it looks like it might be that way again. Indy is probably playing the best football at the moment

All;

True #1 and #2 seeds have not faired well lately. But several have gotten to the SB. Indy was a #1 seed I think two years ago. Anyway, you always like to enter the playoffs on a hot streak.

The loss by the Steelers was not good from that stand point. However, I would say that most of the time defense wins championships. This year the playoffs will be wide open. Just in the AFC if you assume Baltimore makes the playoffs. Tennessee, Pittsubrgh, Baltimore, and Indy are all playing well. Plus if SD sneaks in they could make noise. Their D sucks but they can score points.

Also, even in the NFC Carolina and the Giants are tough and both can run the ball. Plus Dallas has been playing tough D (if you take away the two long runs to Balt). Will be an interesting playoffs.

I still say if our offense plays like they did at Tennesse (without the Turnovers) we will be hard to beat. Without the turnovers I say we score 21-24 pts, our defense is on the field a lot less, and we win the game.

Actually I don't think anyone team, including Indy is playing head & shoulders above the rest right now. There are a few playoff bound teams & possible ones that are laying eggs (AZ, DEN, Tampa Bay, Jets, etc.). The Colts have been like the Steelers in that they have been winning but not blowing anyone out. One good thing about this year is that it could really be wide open and almost any team could conceivably get on a roll and win it all. Let's hope the Steelers are that team.

there's that Stillerz Bar photo again......madonnamia...

Anyway, I agree with the sentiment on the board here. As ol Bill Hillgrove would say, the Stillers are a band of road warriors. Am not concerned about road games; the key is having the bye.
