Forgive me for not being a Homer but...
I can accept the loss as long as I don't have to hear all that sorry crap Ben has become way to comfortable saying: 'That one's on me' or 'The line did great today, and I have to give them credit, but I just did not get it done today', or even 'I let the team down today'!
We seem to hear this crapola over and over again! Stop stating the obvious and just get to the point where you stop giving the damn ball away so often!!!
I know that at times (not often) Ben will make a play out of nothing, but today we saw what a consistent, non superstar can also do with a decent defense. Given the choice I think I would take a more cerebral, consistent guy who doesn't look so much like a LOOSER ON NATIONWIDE TV!!!!!!!
Thanks for letting me vent.

What's he supposed to say? Would you rather he be like Owens and call his teammates out in the media? He did say "we win as a team and we lose as a team," which may have been an allusion to the fact that the defense was not its usual dominant self today. Bottom line is that Ben's misteps had a lot to do with the loss today. He was pretty accurate.

It's not that it's not true, God knows it is his fault, he stunk the joint up. The point is I am sick of hearing him say it as if that makes it ok. Everyone knows he is to blame, that's obvious. I just want him to not only accept his poor performance but to actually do something about it.

Ben does seem to hang around in the pocket too long. But the real problem for this team, which will haunt them in the playoffs is that we have no fucking running game. Ben should never have to throw 40 times in a game. It's really hard to keep the defense off-balance when they know that you can't get more than a few yards per run. It's sad how Arians (with I believe, Ben's blessing) has let the running game erode into the joke that it has become.

Would help if we were to start the right running back.
hint: it's not the guy that probably leads the NFL in negative yardage, and 3.6 ypc. It's the guy that can actually find the hole without having to ride a fullback's coattails

The Titans won today what we won on October 31, 2004 against the Pats. The prize is a big bowl of nothing. I like our chances of having a rested team coming back in a rematch.
Re: Forgive me for not being a Homer but...
Let's call BR7 what he is:
Good, but not great.
Hell, he's not even as goods as -- dare I say -- Tom Brady (that hurt).
No, Ben had best get his shit together. Pathetic performance today by some clown that's supposed to be one of the elite QBs.
Shit, I'll say it again. We are winning DESPITE him, not BECAUSE OF him.

Re: Forgive me for not being a Homer but...
are you implying that you, just now, realize that Ben isn't as good as Brady?? Really?? Ben has that "it" you look for in a QB ... he's a leader and can handle big situations (late game drives, big games, playoffs, etc ... hell, he's been exposed to it since a rookie), but he's an erratic thrower and has some obvious fundamental flaws ... he's a good QB, the best one we've had since you-know-who ... but he's clearly not, and never has been, in Brady or Mannings class ... but that's ok ... nobody is ... and there's usually only 2 or 3 in a given era, that are at that "elite" level. I like Ben, and appreciate having him over what we dealt with all those years, but he drives me nuts a lot of times too.

Re: Forgive me for not being a Homer but...
I'm with indy here...
Ben's play has NOT lived up to his fancy-pants big-dollar contract.
Just about every other quarterback in the NFL can read-and-react quickly. Ben... Not so much. It SEEMS that if he doesn't have a receiver with at least 3 steps on his defender, he won't throw the ball... Unless of course 3-4 defenders have found his intended target... THEN he'll throw it. Jackass.
Perhaps Arians needs to adjust the routes the receivers run to make-up for Ben's shortcomings in the recognition department... Short slants, quick curls, etc.
One can only hope.

BS, the damn line looks like a bunch of girlie men out there half the time and you want to dog Ben. The guy has proven himself. The reason for are struggling is that they cant run the ball. Back to the O-line again. Look at that Titans O-line. 1 sack on them today. And Tenn, can actually run the ball. Fix the O-line and everything will be ok. Oh and get rid of Arians.

I can't really agree here, KYSF.
Ben seems to have a severe deficiency when it comes to recognizing open receivers. All it takes is a split second to see, commit, and throw. MOST ALL OTHER NFL QBs do this EFFECTIVELY.
Ben does not. Even when he's had all the time in the world... He still seems scared to throw the ball to anyone without 2-3 steps on their defender.
Re: Forgive me for not being a Homer but...
Gotta disagree with you on this one KYSteelers....
He simply is not playing that well. We can create all the cover we want for him...but the fact is, the ENTIRE offense is simply not that good.
That's a hard one for us to accept....and the record they have makes it even harder.
But, we found out today what happens when the D is off. This was one day the D needed the offense to actually do something. And they couldn't.
Oh, there is plenty of blame to go around...Arians, the O-line, FWP, Tokio, Miller who can't block to save his life.......Crisco Washington...the list goes on and on.
The fact is they simply are not that good. Period. I don't like it, but that's the way it is.

Re: Forgive me for not being a Homer but...
Are we talking about the same guy who led the team to a 15-1 record in his rookie seaons, then the SB the next? He gets no credit for that? I am not saying he was the reason, but he was a contributing factor. At least he is not a robot anybody can replace like Odonnel or Maddox who had no passion or leadership for the team. Ben has heart. He want to win. I cant say that I have saw that attitude since "you-know-who"
We need
1. Fix the O-line.
2. Go back to Steelers F-Ball (run behind a big FB)
3. A new O-coordinator.

Re: Forgive me for not being a Homer but...
I agree with you sir/ma'am...
Realistically speaking... This is a "What have you done for me lately?" league.
Ben's performance is not as stellar as it was... THEN. I think it's really cool that he set so many records and such a STANDARD for rookie QBs. Think about the influx of rookie QB play since his explosion. Seems more common now than then and beyond.
The problem is... He's been plagued with injuries and a depleting line. His performance has degraded and his variable surroundings are collectively sucking right now. Yeah... I got it. This offense is... offensive to watch. Unfortunately.
The guy doesn't have that swagger he did then. It shows.
He's pissin' people off and making a looooooooooot of money.
People get upset that he's not livin' up to the bill, so to speak.
Others just hate to watch the same suckage game-in and game-out.
Fact of the matter is... They're not 15-1 this year. There's plenty of blames to go around this year for that. Lately... A larger concentration is on Ben on most-recent games.
I'm just sayin'.

Compared to the SB?
If a bird had a radio shoved up it's ass, there would always be music in the air.
What he did years ago don't mean shit. At least in my job it don't and I'm not getting paid $100 MM either.

Re: Forgive me for not being a Homer but...
About the new O-Coordinator idea...
I'm for it.
I'd like an O-Coordinator that will 'bring the funk' to the offense like Tomlin has brought to the Steelers in general. I think with a healthy Mendenhall next year... Exploring this fun little 'Wildcat' could work for this personnel. Assuming the line gets fixed. Maybe that's crazy talk, but I CERTAINLY want to see more of a variety in plays that are called.
Fullback...
The game is evolving to a way that I don't think a fullback is necessary anymore to be effective in the run game. Me'Mo has showed us that. He blasts holes better than Parker. He runs with what's given to him. That's why he's 4+ ypc this year. I'd rather see 5+ with his amount of carries but hey... I'll take it.

Well, to hear some tell it, BR7 should be considered in the same breath as Brady. I never thought so.....but, hey, some think those things.
I'll tell you who he is beginning to remind me of...and this is scary...Neil O'Donnell.

Hell no.
He throws waaaaay too many INTs.

Re: Forgive me for not being a Homer but...
The problem is really PRETENDING that this is a run 1st team. When they have 1st and goal, they should be thinking PASS IT IN, not RUN IT IN. They should be lined up in spread formations and going no huddle most of the time, if not the entire game. Forget that idea that "Pittsburgh is a Running Team"...IT ISN'T! Just admit who you are and move on. The results will be better and in fact, the run will open up as well.

I have to disagree...O'Donnell knew when to throw the ball away and live another day. Ben does not. He tries to make every play a big play and needs to learn that taking a sack is not the right thing to do. I like Ben, alot, but holding on to the ball for so long is getting to be a serious problem. I know our O-line is not the greatest but, they can't hold off guys forever either. There comes a time when the QB needs to get rid of the ball and Ben does not know when that is.
Just my thoughts.
