According to this:

This is why Smith has been out of practice and is questionable.
Best wishes to his family if this is true.

Kind of makes a football game kind of meaningless, doesn't it?

No doubt.
Best to him and his.

Very sad to hear that... but the good news is this is a very treatable disease so with good medical care he'll be ok.
My hats off to him for playing under those circumstances.

When I saw him playing yesterday I was surprised because I thought Tomlin declared him out for personal reasons.
Totally unfortunate if true.

Punum can speak from personal experience here. There is nothing more devistating to find out that your child has cancer. I went through it many years ago. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for my son and he passed away (8) months later. He had an extremely rare form of kidney cancer.
The good news for the Smith family...is that childhood leukemia is very treatable in most cases...and often curable. I believe the cure rate was in the 90% range in 2000...thanks to hospitals like St. Jude.
I will ask that everyone say a prayer for this little boy. Prayer really works...Punum is living proof (and no I'm not a bible banger or religious fanatic).
Prayers and best wishes for his family.

We vent about poor player performance and terrible coaching week after week. Sometimes life gives us reason to pause. A buddy of McLovin used to be bartender in Denver area Knows Smitty well and says he's the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Here's hoping we find a cure for cancer and all goes well for the Smith family and every family faced with defeating this disease. Salute
