Re: COUNTDOWN TO FIRINGS

I agree with whoever mentioned the pass/pass/pass mentality tiring our defence out and getting them back out there too quickly...espeically in the fourth quarter (where we have had most of our problems). I think Arians does some things well, but his underlying philosophy is fu*k&d...Ben was discussing how he and Arians talked about trying to have as many points as minutes they have the ball...I understand ben finding this appealing, but the O coordinator should know that is not a good philosophy. They need to slow the offense down in the fourth and balance the time the O and D are out on the field a little better. if Arians does not go, Tomlin has to make this point clear to him. Their Defense cannot be on the field that long. Arians also seems to have some problems designing plays in the red zone and punching it in. I wish they would go with someone new, but I think he will be back. I hope Tomlin and him make some philosophical changes.

Go back and read the article in one of the papers about arians and his "storied" career. Read his own words as he talks about "putting the right guys in the right places to succed" and using players "according to their abilities". Geez, this is ALL we're asking for. MeMo's receptions are down from last year -WE DO NOT, ...I REPEAT!... WE DO NOT GET TO SB LAST YEAR WITHOUT MEMO AND WHAT HE BROUGHT ON SUNDAYS.

Yet, now all of the sudden he is the RB in a 1-back formation and told to run up the gut? Run ACROSS THE FORMATION to get 3 yds for a 1st down? We ask Holmes to throw 50 yds across the damn field when he's never tossed a rock in his life? Spaeth (useless as he is), but at 6'7 can't be used in crucial 3rd down and shorts for mismatches on safeties to get 1st downs? Use him or lose him.

Someone said '"situational football reasoning" and "game awareness" are severely retarded. THAT, in a nutshell, is the hub of the issue. Too much talent in too many skill positions for us not to be back in the hunt. Move the chains and the "D" stays in the closet. Where did we rank in 3rd down conversion %- mediocre, middle of the pack @ 39%? Best teams at 41% or better - we're at 39%.
