If Tomlin and his staff are smart, they need to focus on NOT having HInes at all for the game. Get that 6'4 bag of shit Sweed ready to play because that just might be what we are faced with...

Think about it- if you ever have had a knee injury or surgery, you are NEVER the same afterwards despite the effects of modern meds...

Just being realistic my friends...

well this isn't good. i certainly hope mewelde moore and heath miller are able to contribute in the passing game because although I think sweed will be a good future wr, he isnt ready NOW

McLovin done bashing Sweed for one day so let's attack Arians shall we...Nino is right in that IF Hines ineffective Heath and Moore should be viable alternatives. BUT is there a more underutilized TE in all of football? Hell we have 2 of them if you factor the positive signs Spaeth showed as a receiver while Heath out. Moore has 40 catches out of the backfield this year McLovin would make sure he catches at least 5 in the Super Bowl because gawd knows Willie can't catch...Ben laid that ball out there perfectly Sunday...easy 30-40 yd gain. Willie and Sweed must play too much slap ass at practice.

Ward: If game were Sunday 'I would play'
Wednesday, January 21, 2009
By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Wide receiver Hines Ward said today that if the Super Bowl were held this Sunday, he would play.

That he has an extra week to get his sprained right knee ready for the Arizona Cardinals is a bonus.

"Things feel good," Ward said. "The MRI came out pretty good; where I sprained it at was in a good place and it's a great place to heal. I have a whole week off and we'll see what happens next week."

Asked though if the game were to be played this Sunday, Ward said, "I would play."

Of Course he said he's going to play what did you want him to say? That said this is good news so long as he doesn't pull a parker and fall in a fucking hole it should be all good

Can someone define for me where there is a "good" place to sprain the MCL?
I'm still healing from a sport related knee injury from November, granted, I sit on my ass all day and will myself to not get any older, but it still hurts.

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward (knee) said he would be able to play in Super Bowl XLIII if it was played Sunday, Jan. 25. "Things feel good," Ward said. "The MRI came out pretty good; where I sprained it at was in a good place and it's a great place to heal. I have a whole week off and we'll see what happens next week."

Sadly you are correct. Hines et al are whistling past the graveyard and I hope it's all a brave show with the Steelers working out any and all contingencies for his temporary or permanent absence next Sunday.

I imagine they will give him a painkiller regardless of his level of discomfort before the game simply to take his mind off it. Problem there is with no pain there are no signals that an injury is being made worse. The needle is everywhere in the NFL but to my knowledge Hines hasn't needed it before.

He'll be as effective as Troy was with his "sore calf".

He's not a speed guy. He is a tough SOB and I expect him to do what he always does. Run good routes and be sure handed. Two weeks will be enough for him to get ready... but hopefully, Arians will include Moore in the passing game.

If ever there was a player that could play well through this type of injury, it would be Hines Ward.

My only concern for this game will be our two slow ass LB's in the middle.

Listen-let's say Hines doesn't suit up..What are options? PLENTY. Sweed will be fine. He is a nervous 21 yr old playing the NFL. Did you hear me? THE N....F.....L....- he's a little awe-struck right now...if you noticed after he brought the wood on Corey Ivy, he seemed to have a little more hitch in his giddyup...you want some proof that this kid is a stud? go to youtube and watch his college days at Texas. Kid is money...

How about Miller? Guy catches EVERYTHING thrown to him and is an absolute bear to tackle...he can't block for shit, but you can't have everything...have him peel off the line and run a 4 yard slant...works everytime...

We still have Nate and Cornholio...

we'll be fine...I am already sick and tired of all of this talk about the redbirds..."oooh, Kurt Warner...what a great story....from grocery clerk to Hall-of-Fame QB...." "OOOOH, Kurt..."

Warner? Fuck you and that nappy-head wife of yours...
Fitzgerald? How you gonna feel when Ry Clark brings the cement to your mellon?
Boldin? Go fuck yourself... :sushootem:

Go Stillers...!!!!

Why are you concerned with or two slow ass LB's in the middle? Are they the ones responsible for covering Fitzerald and Boldin??? Arizona doesnt have a dynamic running game or a speed back who catches passes with any regularity out of the backfield. They don't throw to their tight end. Your concern should be Ike Taylor covering Larry Fitzgerald. Our two slow ass LBs in the middle won't have a major impact on the outcome of this game

How do you figure Sweed will be fine? Because of one good block? Ed Bouchette the only one of us who can actually claim to be at a steelers practice or talk to a coach said that Sweed has been dropping balls since mini-camp and he has zero self confidence. As for him being money at Texas...what is it with Texas guys being nervous pussies in the pros? Vince Young had meltdown and threaten suicide, Ricky Williams wouldn't even talk to media without his helmet on, Cedric Benson cried like a pussy on draft day, and now Shane Dronnett former Falcon kills himself yesterday.

As for Miller's blocking on the whole he's adequate but did you see the block he made to allow Ben to find Holmes for that 64 yd td on Sunday? Don't you worry about Heath's blocking...BLOCKhead Arians needs to find ways to get him the damn ball
