Hey WoodsonofSteel, your real name is not WoodsonofSteel. Quit referring to yourself as WoodsonofSteel or you'll be looked at as a jackass :sudancin:

This has got to be my biggest pet-peeve when it comes to NFL fanaticism.

You've never suited up. You've probably never even been on the field (I'm sure SOMEONE that reads this has taken the tour), much less been on when the game clock is running.

I don't know if it's the need to feel like you're part of something special but uh... At the end of the day. You're just a fan. I'm just a fan.

Check "we", "our", and "us" at the door when referring to the Steelers. THEY play the game. WE do not.

You know who you are.

WE ARE THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS.

Wow...that's your "biggest" pet peeve? Man, if that's all you've got to complain about then life must be really good to you. Shoot, that wouldn't even make my top 100. Time to stop whining and enjoy life.

Do you know what a stakeholder is??? It is basically anyone that is affected by a company conducting business. This is to include owners, employees, competitors and especially customers. We are all customers of the Steelers branding and as such we are stakeholders in the company. When referring to the Steelers we use the term we or us in reference to the stakeholders in this company that are not fans of a competitor. (i.e. another NFL team)

We all have our own stories... Especially with the Steelers.

Barry Foster is the best Steelers running back I've ever seen play for Pittsburgh. Fan since '90. Born in '80. Hell... My dad got me going when I was like 3. I had a picture in the paper with him holding a ball and me about to kick it wearin' some Terry Bradshaw tike-goodness.

I buried him in a Greg Lloyd jersey. He brought me in right so I sent him out right. He loved him some "I wasn't hired for my disposition"ness. Dude was 'nasty' according to him. Didn't he pull a gun on his son?

It was nice to... After being alive for almost 26 years... See them win a Super Bowl. I was glad to see Jerome Bettis win it at home. (Jerome Bettis is from Detroit. :geek: ) He's my all-time favorite Steelers running back. I have a jersey that he wore in a game. It was 85% of my wardrobe my senior year in high school...

Damn you, Neil O'Donnell, Damn yooooooou!!!! I had to wear a dress to high school thanks to that mutha fugga... I grew up in west Texas. (I have a lil bit 'a yee-haw in muh step, sir.) Most ALL of my friends that watched football were Cowboys fans. I lost a bet. Enter high-school cross-dressing suck.

Yeah... I've been pretty devoted to them. I always say... The best season of the year is football season. That commercial with the Packer fan... It should be black-and-gold runnin' from MY finger.

I'm just sayin'.

/long-winded diatribe

The Pittsburgh Steelers = They are my team. I like to watch them. I hope they win this Super Bowl. If they DO win the Super Bowl... "We" didn't do it.

P.S. - This is what part of the alphabet would look like if "Q" and "R" turned up missing. - Mitch Hedberg

Woodson, we all share your ire towards Neil ODonnell. I still have nightmares about those horrible picks, esp the 2d one with no Stiller anywhere near it. I just couldn't accept that the Stillers would lose a SB....esp to DALLAS.

It's one of the reasons why WE were so happy when Ben was drafted in 04. From Bradshaw to Ben is a long time to go without a good QB. The memories of Stoudt, Malone, Bubby, Kordell, Neil O'D, and the rest of the bums are enough to make you sick. And to think we passed on Danny Marino.....oh well, that's for another message string.

without the fans, we the fans, there is no team, just like there is no LA raiders, st. louis cardinals, and any other team that folded or moved due to lack of interest. so i feel justified in saying we, us, and such. and if you here the players and coach tomlin talk, they feel like we are part of the team as well. and i've it from more than one player on m ore than one occassion that it is an honor to play in Pittsburgh because of the fans...if that doesn't make the fans a vital part of the team, then nothing will.

Holy Crap deathwind - I saw that avatar and said to myslef "I don't remember posting on this topic yet" then I realized you were using the same avatar I've been using on Stillers.com for 5 years - man that's gonna mess with my head but hey, whatever floats your boat dude..

On to the topic and hand - a few thoughts:
- Yup, if this is Wood's biggest pet peave he must have one sweet life
- While Wood makes a decent point, so does everyone else on the other side of the argument. In the end, call 'em what you want

Some of the many reasons I will likely still say "we, ours, etc:
- I've been a fan since before the glory days of the 70s
- I help run a fan club that has over 500 members, if I didn't make people feel part of the team, participation would be much less & that would suck
- Got a very good friend in the Steelers front office and she thinks of us as part of the team
- Just cuz I feel like it

Just to clarify for those of you that someway, somehow read this is my biggest pet-peeve in my life...

"This has got to be my biggest pet-peeve when it comes to NFL fanaticism. "
