The problem was.....they had the mindset that "we don't have to win this game"; no sense of urgency; no hunger. Yes, they didn't HAVE to win with a first-round bye in pocket, but......
this could come back to bite them in the rump if they have to play the Rats again (hard to beat a team 3 times in a season), BR7's being downright careless with the ball, and the complete abuse of the D by the TEN RBs and OL. With a substandard OL at present and possibly going against a better unit.....a whiff of trouble in the air. The coaches SHOULD play the first unit at least the first half vs. CLE to attempt to work out some of the slop. This also is a good time to see if Tony Hills, Bruce Davis and Limas Sweed can play a lick at all. I'd rather have an undefeated record in division this season, but, it's not a crying necessity. More pressing needs are a new OC, a new OL coach, and a prudent draft that addresses OL, DL, and DB (and exploring the trade route that may involve parting with some "star" players).

Wow. The guy manufactures five fourth quarter or OT game winning drives this year, the last of which covered 92 yards against the Ravens D. He has led the team to an 11-4 record, the AFC North title, a bye and a Home playoff game. He is the youngest QB to win a SB, and the first ever to win 50 games in his first 5 seasons. He also just went on the longest INT-less streak of his career until the pick in the 3rd Q yesterday. Yes. He stunk yesterday. And, yes the defense has carried him, and covered some of his flaws this year. But, with no O-Line, no running game, and an assfuck of an OC, he's had to carry the offense on his shoulders. Ben is no Brady, Manning, or Montana. He never was, and he never will be. Remember all these criticisms (and even a reference to rather having Kerry Collins, God help me) when he directs the team down the field for a win in the postseason. I'm not saying we need to have blind faith in anyone in black and gold, but "what he's done for us lately" is win alot of fucking ballgames.

Amen ISFRY, if you have tivo, please go back and watch some of the plays of the OL. The Titans put all that pressure on with basically a 4 man rush and no blitz. There were times the OL just swatted their arms at the Titan DL. These guys are supposed to be professionals. They looked like they were out of their league. Collins isnt as good a QB as Ben, but he has time and a running game.

As for the comparisons, Ben cant be like those guys because he is supposed to be on a run first team. Bradshaw wasnt any of those either, but he has as many or more rings than they do.

Okay, so Ben isn't having the year he had last year. BUT: He did separate a shoulder in game 1 (and didn't complain any). He has been sacked a lot (some "his fault" I suppose). He's had a LOT of passes dropped by some pretty high $ receivers, and the running game has been missing.

He won a super bowl, after I'd been waiting 26 years. And we've got a shot at another. With Ben on the field, it seems we always have a shot. Could you say that about any QB we've had post Bradshaw? It was more the opposite "We'd be a super bowl team if we had a decent QB." How quickly we forget. We're ready to abandon him during a playoff-bound 12-4 division winning #2 seed season? Criminy, people, what does it take to make you happy?

I love the guy. I haven't loved being a Steeler fan this much since the Bradshaw days, and its because of Ben.

Again, historical anecdotes.

Ben is not playing that well. I'm not saying he is not good. Nor am I saying I want to replace him.

However, he's not playing well at all. I'll agree he has a few comebacks...the reason we had to come back is usually because BR7 mistakes....the SB win? They won DESPITE him, not because of him.

He's is just not that good this year. Next year may be different. But this year, he sucks. It really is that simple.

My point is that it seems that Ben is 'comfortable' when he loses... as long as he can pull out his line of "this one's on me" and it will all be ok, and everyone should just drop it because he 'owned up' to the fact that he stunk up the joint. We don't need him to tell us...we sat in abject horror and watched it for God's sake!

I know it is his responsibility to accept the blame (he is after all the quarterback), I just wish he didn't look so comfortable with it. When loosing becomes palatable there is a problem.

Ben has brought a lot to the team. I remember all the pretenders that the team has went through, and I certainly don't want to return to the days of a crying QB on the sidelines, BUT......

I just would like to see him pissed off at his retarded performances. In my humble opinion[code][/code] he seems too comfortable with losing.
