solid thread here. Due to the large # of posts to respond to, I'll do it in 1 post.

Mill

Quote: Woodley a little slow in coverage?

Let’s realize ONE thing here -- Woodley is a DE in OLB clothing. The man is HUGE, going at 265 and probably closer to 270. Asking him to be some sleek, smooth, jackrabbit coverage ‘backer is ludicrous. THAT is supposed to be Potsie Farrior’s role, a role Farrior is wholly unable to perform. Woodley’s attributes are stout run defense and superb pass rushing….2 key things that stiffs like Jason GilDong, Dontgay Jones, and Carla Emmons were entirely incapable of.
-----------------------

Quote: In my opinion, the end result was more valuable than the 15-yard penalty.

It was a 3rd & 7 in a 13-point game in the 3Q. The asinine penalty gave NE the ball at the Pit 47, rather than punting. A TD on this drive makes it a 6-pt. game.
---------------------

Quote: However, don't you think Timmons would be a better replacement for Farrior instead of Foot?

No. Farrior is clearly on the downslope of his career, but he is the better all-around ILB over Foote, who never had an upslope. The absurd extension given to Farrior also makes it foolish to bench the turd, in terms of sal cap usage. At this point in time, Timmons needs to take Foote’s place and be ON the field for at least 95% of the snaps. Remember, this team is like the 2000 Ravens, with a shit offense led by Arians. We desperately need PLAYMAKERS on defense to make plays in order to make up for Arians and his puke offense.
-------------------

Quote: How about the devastating block Timmons made from the blind side.

Good point; it was Timmons. Mind you, Tony’s block SPRUNG Tonio. Timmons’ block was probably not even needed, but it was a very good effort.
---------------------

Quote: Mill isn't happy unless he has a yearly "Gildong".

Bullshit. I call a spade a spade. You’ll note that my wrath goes toward HIGHLY PAID, highly fawned-over players who are, oddly enough, UNDER-PERFORMING. If you fuking perform, like Mewelde Moore, then you receive no wrath and little ridicule. If you UNDER PERFORM like a complete faggott, you’ll get what you deserve. Very logical, if you ask me.
-----------------------

Quote: you state in your article we are lucky as the pats could have scored more but for dropped td passes....same goes for steelers.

Uh, we dropped ONE TD pass. NE dropped THREE of ‘em, at least.
---------------------

Quote: But, of course, "Still Mill" knows better. Just like he knows better than all those NFL owners that would slit their wrist to get Bill Cowher as their coach.

Isn’t Billy Cowher the brilliant genius who cut JAMES HARRISON, not once, but THREE fuking times ?

----------------------------

Quote: pointed that out after a game earlier this year when Hoke was getting praised and Hampton trashed, and it was promptly deleted.

Sorry, Clittany37 -- I didn’t fuking delete it. I really could give a shit what you post (as long as it doesn’t violate our policies), so therefore I wouldn’t and didn’t delete any of your tripe.

------------------------

Quote: Got to go ahead and kinda' disagree with Mill on the KO returns. It seemed to me the first two kicks, the Cheats deliberately tried to kick toward Davis and away from Russell. Third KO, they stood together and Russell took it.

No shit !! Third KO, they stood together and Russell took it. Duh-uh !! Now, WHY didn’t they “stand together” on the 1st 2 KOs?
--------------------------------

Quote: Mill went beyond "tough love" and into parody shortly after the Steelers won the Super Bowl...the one he said could never be won under Cowher.

Actually, I didn’t. And if you can prove otherwise, by all means, show us.

There's a difference between hate and tough love.

And, one can hate a player but still love the team.

We might have won that Superbowl in spite of Field Goal Bill, not because of him.

He was a pretty good regular-season coach but turtled and puckered in most big games, IMO. He was lovable for his emotion, but was somewhat questionable, intellectually.

Clark's hit on Welker, he didnt know the ball was going to get tipped, :P. Clark has shown he'll whack the poor defensive receiver a couple times now. Yep, the penalty hurt. I'm still smilin, see in Welker on the sidelines afterwards. We needed more shots of belichick after we pulled away! Almost made be as happy as when they lost the super bowl to Giants. They became my 2nd favorite team right then.

So Arians pulled out the empty backfield again. I was thinking ok its gotta be a setup thing: (Arians cant be stupid, right? he just cant be?)
1. belichick watches tape of us vs Cinn, doesnt miss any details, sees are empty, instructs defense when see it, sell out to intercept the short pass, dont rush the QB.
2. Ok hes setup, when were on about the 50 or so we go empty and throw a deep lob to Nate, easy six! We actually did a deep lob to Nate, not empty thou, and he dropped out! About expected result.
3. NE defense sees empty and rushes the QB, twice. Belichick didnt really think this game was that important? Doesn't have his Brady, wahhhhhh.

Comments on coaches.......

-- Mill is consistently correct in his criticisms of Arians

-- disagree with him, for the most part, on LeBeau. We do have too much 'velcro-blitzing' as Mill would say. But on the whole, the results are what matter most: this D has consistently kicked ass all year, and it just can't be DESPITE LeBeau.

-- overall I am happy with Tomlin. B+ in his first year and a half. I especially like his No Excuses theme when it comes to injuries and the bounce of the ball.

-- and about ol' Field Goal Bill......I always had a higher opinion of him than Mill did; always loved the fire, the spit, the chin, and all of that....however, the guy simply lost too many big games with his turtling and his version of Marty-ball. BUT -- the bottom line is that Bill won a ton of games over the years without a reliable QB, and then finally got the hardware with Ben under center.

Mill:

Isn't Cowher the "fucking genius" who cut Harrison THREE TIMES? Well, since he cut Harrison THREE times, that must mean he's a better coach than any other NFL team, none of whom, outside of Baltimore, game him ONE chance. I guess Bellichick is a moron because Harrison was out there and he never picked him up.

Yep, it couldn't have been that Harrison developed more slowly that other players. And let's not forget all the "fucking genius" moron college coaches from major BCS schools who didn't give him a chance either, thus sending him to Kent. Yep, they're all complete morons.

Glad to see that holding with the general consensus on Harrison overrides 151 wins, 8 division title, 2 AFC titles and a Super Bowl championship. Ya, I'd hate to have those numbers. And ya, you were always right, Jeff Fisher is so much better. Exactly in what statistical category is he better than Cowher? Win pct? Nope. Division titles? Nope. Conference titles? Nope. Super Bowl titles? Nope. Love by Mill? Big Yep!!

per Mill:

"Clark put a vicious hit on a defenseless Wes Werlker and drew a 15-yard flag that kept the drive alive in a tight ballgame. So much for the “smart, heady, veteran play by Clark” that we get inundated with, week in and week out. I’m all for punishing opposing players with rough hits, but this was a blatant penalty and a foolish, pussyfied hit."

per NFL vice president of officiating Mike Pereira:

“He does actually lead with the shoulder on a high hit up in the area of the neck, but he left the helmet out of the contact,” Pereira said. “When you look at it and slow it down it probably was not an illegal hit. You might have to factor in that it was deflected early and does that make it become late. But the actual hit itself is probably OK.”

After the game, you gave Cowher a C- minus for winning the Super Bowl by 11 points.

You wrote an article about how the refs Screwed the Seahawks on Feb 12 complaining about 7 calls that were in the Steelers favor.

I mean...who does that?

In your review of the 2008 Texans game, you brought it up again.

Two seasons later, you are still mad that your favorite team got a favorable call in a Super Bowl.

Seattle fans don't even bitch about it anymore.

Unfortunately, this site has become far more about Mill's ego than about the Steelers. I've actually come to believe his need to be right exceeds his desire for the Steelers to succeed (if such success proves his previous analysis wrong). I have this vision in my head of Mill watching Cowher raise the Lombardi trophy after SB 40 while muttering to himself (like Kurtz in "Apocalypse Now"): "The horror, the horror..."

Some of you posters are hijacking this thread with your rants about Still Mill.

Consider this your warning; if you continue to hijack you will risk suspension.

Please start a thread about Still Mill in the rant section if you only want to make insulting remarks about him rather than talk about your football knowledge.

Thanks.

Nel,
We've been over this before. It's still related to the topic, since Mill is the one who wrote the article that is serving as the basis of the post.

Had anyone else posted a link to any other Steeler-related article not written by Mill, we'd be allowed to bash away at that particular author without you saying a word (it's been done in relation to Bouchette and Peter King many times on this forum).

It's the price you pay for posting a publicly available article. Everyone has the right to bash my posts (and it's been done). I'm fine with that. So, why can't we bash his, especially when he's often the one bashing us in his replies?

Mr. StillMill,

I agree & disagree with you on some points.

AGREE: Why would we expect Woodley to be good in coverage? The man does what he has to do when there is a bltiz called (& he has to drop back), but no one should ever expect him to be as fleet of foot as Jack Ham.

AGREE: Clark should have eased up. A player has to know the situation. If he eases up, the Patriots punt...and the game is essentially over.

AGREE...SORT OF: Farrior can not be replaced in the line-up...because, simply, the coaches do not want to change a thing. I can empathize: my brother & I sit in the exact same chairs every single game. Some call it being supersticious...others call it OCD...I call it "not taunting the Football Gods."
That said, watching Farrior lose the TEs & RBs play after play...ugh. I am not sure that Timmons has the girth to play ILB, but I would bet my pinky-finger that his coverage skills are amazing (or, at least, better than Farrior's).
Regardless, as you said, for cap reasons (& miked helmet reasons) Farrior will indeed start...and I will sit in my chair.

DISAGREE: New England dropped two long passes and a touchdown. Pittsburgh dropped quite a few short passes and a touchdown.

We've been over it, but I have yet to hear an explanation on how it's hijacking if I'm talking about the person who wrote the article the thread is about.

Are you really ready to declare marshall law on an already fizzling board?

If you take a look at nearly all my other posts, most of them are all perfectly logical posts that closely pertain to the topic at hand. I think it's pretty far fetched to say I'm just a troll looking to get under someone's skin.

And please, continue banning me. Turns out, hotmail and yahoo let you create as many accounts as you want. Not to mention the mail server I have running at home, of course.

Ban my IP if you want. I have several IPs to work with, plus several VPN connections that have IPs of their own. Not to mention the number of spoofed IPs I can create.

If you're feeling really randy, ban my MAC addresses too. I have 3 work computers, an iPhone, and an unlimited number of virtual machines that all have unique hardware.

My intentions are not to troll any amount of threads or to ruffle any feathers.

This is a site that praises itself (over and over and over again) for not hiding from the truth. As such, I'm going to tell Mill what I think of his "insight" in the same manner he criticizes his own critics. That is, to say, very crudely.

I will continue to offer my opinions and thoughts in a civil manner on all other threads as I have done in the past; under whatever name you didn't get around to banning at that particular moment. You can try and keep up, if you want, but I'm telling you that it won't be worth the work it's going to require.

Nel,
Did you think I was joking or something?

All you have to do is give me the same bashing rights with respect to Mill as you give other non-Stillers.com writers and you have nothing to worry about. I'm not a threat to anything or anyone.

Seriously, it's not worth it. But keep trying if you must.

My project tasks for work are done for the week. I can keep this going as long as you see fit.
