I've been giving this some thought
The old adage "the best players play" must not be alive in Pittsburgh, especially with Tomlin, Old Man Dick and company. I have read (missed the last 2 games) that the tandem of Moats and Spence is actually a little more impressive than Shazier and Jones.
With that being said, why didn't these 2 have starting positions from day 1? Were Tomlin and Old Man Dick content with tanking the season so Shazier and Jones could have "On the job training"?
I always thought you played the "best" player.

Re: I've been giving this some thought
I'm not sure what you read, but I watched Moats overcommit at least twice last Sunday, vacate his responsibility and allow a huge gain through the very gap he vacated. Once by the RB, once by the QB, both for third down conversions, if I recall correctly. I was screaming at my television both times. I don't think his dong sack against a hobbled Cam Newton two weeks ago necessarily makes him "the best player." Just my opinion, obviously. Regardless, if Ryan "the paper tiger" shazier is gonna be banged up, he is clearly NOT the best player. One preseason pick doesn't make him Mean Joe, either.
