4b pick Oklahoma QB - Landry Jones

Postby thesteelhammer » Sat Apr 27, 2013 1:07 pm

continuing the trend PGHeaven pointed out ...Colbert again drafts a position which he has already signed a free agent at.
Gradkowski is clearly our back up...so we just spent a 4th round pick on a 3rd string guy. that doesn't thrill me.

Landry has nice size and mobility. His arm is suficient, though his down field accuracy leaves something to be desired.
Hopefully this puts an end to Batch and Leftwich, and saves us some cap space.

The big knock is Landry's performance under preassure in the pocket...and he'll see a lot of that behind the Steelers O-line, so that's not good.

Not a pick I would have made in the 4th round, and not a player that excites me.

what do you think?

Agreed with everything you just said.

I'm fine with drafting a QB, but in the 4th round???

I guess Colbert thinks Jones will be the future back-up to Ben, or possibly take over for Ben when he retires??

Landry Jones named one of the losers of the draft for going to the Steelers

I've read some negatives on him in the Draft, but I actually like this pick. It's definitely the end of Batch, and Leftwich. I don't think he beats Gradkowski for the Back up QB role on the team, but I think he'll be in that role in 2014.

I think you're right Burns, I think the Steelers had that in mind for Dennis Dixon but he just didn't have it and wanted to try to be a starter in the FA market.
