Re: New Article: Stillers-Patriots Postgame Analysis and Grades
Carter has the motor to make up for inexperience. Sylvester hopefully will get a lot of PT. What is the thought on Cortez Allen and Lewis? I am down here in SC and don't get all the games. Seems like they held their against the Pats. Is it them or how much is Carnell's influence? Whatever the reason, I can't belive we're No. 1 in Pass D!
I'm hoping the "O" shows up and we go 4 wide again! Think they learned anything on Sunday?

Re: New Article: Stillers-Patriots Postgame Analysis and Grades
Woodley plays against the weaker tackle and Harrison has to face the best pass blocker on the other team on the left side, plus he is going to get chipped by running backs providing back up pass protection. Woodley's sack totals reflect that over the years. He has very quiet games many times where you don't notice him. You do notice Harrison because he is fighting off the biggest baddest motherfucker the other team has to offer. If Woodley face left tackles he should just fall down at the snap of the ball....
It was a good thing to loose Farrior before New England on another linebacker issue-- the Farrior Barrier would have been yet another complete disaster against NE in trying to cover backs and tight ends. Credit his absence to having someone on the field who could at least provide coverage.

Not trying to be too big of a wise ass, but I can sum this up in 4 words.........Gabbert, Kolb, Painter, and Jackson. I'm not saying the D didn't do a phenomenal job against the Gays Sunday, but our TOP and total yards were double that of the Pats........Brady didn't get many chances to score points because of their sieve of a defense. Again, I'm not downplayin' our D, but our O is steppin' up BIG time.

So why don't they?StillMill wrote:Big LaMarr is picking up where Jason GillDong left off......running UNTOUCHED at the QB for easy Dong Sacks. Clark Haggans, Jason Worilds, Stev Sylvester, even Larry Foote could do the same thing in THIS scheme.
You have to realize that Woodley somehow finds "UNTOUCHED" routes to the QB in which most LBs simply haven't been able to do. If it were so easy, we'd have LOTS of LBs in the NFL getting "Dong Sacks"............ (Demarcus Ware of the Cowboys gets sacks this way too. Actually, there are a few players who get to the QB like this, but then miss the tackle....... Finishing the play is what separates Ware and Woodley from the others.)
Just one more comment- The Pats best drive of the game was with Woodley on the bench with the hamstring injury.
Whenever Tom Brady loses, it's always someone else's fault.

Yep and with JH out multiple games and zero pressure from that side, Wood keeps getting two sacks a game. so I'll take the two sacks that no one else can get and let others say they don't count for various reasons....on the 15-yd sack, LW was untouched, because that was the design... Hood and Foote tied up the line, and LW ran a loop from his side to the middle, then stormed in and collared Brady. it was a beautiful play, and worked to design perfectly. And when Wood got there, he did not give Brady a prayer of slipping away or throwing ball away. If you didn't like that, or think there was skill involved, you are a know-nothing.

For the love of God.... at least Dick wasn't in "VELCRO-BLITZ" mode for 60 minutes. Although, with so many linebackers out this week, it will be interesting who he sets up to be the sack machine. I would imagine that either Worilds or Carter get some free Dong Sack opportunities this week.

Well, there's no stopping it now, we're too far passed that.........for Mill I mean. Hell, this might be a weekly thing for the other 5 seasons Wood has left in his contract.
Besides, it's kinda eerie how Lamarr's performance has seemed to be increasing gradually every week since Mill started the report........weird huh?

This was such a refreshing win for the Steelers! And what's almost as refreshing, is that people on this site are finally refuting some of the stupid crap being posted on this site. The treatment of Woodley, for example. Let's say the Mill's right, and Woodley's just a no tallent hack. If you are getting that many sacks for my team out of sheer luck, as in opposed to being talented, I could give a s@#! less-just keep doing it! As several people already pointed out, no one else seems to have this kind of LUCK (oldschoolhunkie: Love the ham sandwich line!). Also (I'll stand alone on this one), the portrayal of Lebeau as a washed-up geezer who doesn't know how to defend against modern offenses is ridiculous. How many years does our defense have to finish in the top 5 to earn some respect on this freaking site? I can understand calling him out for mismanaging certain plays, or even entire games, but for years the Mill has been dogging him as a bad coach. I say BULLSHIT! With all that being said, for the most part, I do enjoy the commentary. My main beef with this site has always been the lack (just from what I've seen in all fairness) of objectivity from the people who respond to the posts. I always thought of this crowd as a bunch of mind-nummed-robots (no offense:) because everyone would just echo the sentiments of Still Mill (often using the exact same wording-LAME) no matter how preposterous they were. I don't know if I just picked a good time to start paying attention again, or if this is indeed a new revelation here. In any case, a diversity of opinions has made the comments a hell of a lot more entertaining to read. Now let's go kick us some Raven ass!

In defense of Lebeau, I forgot to mention all the Supper Bowls his defenses have played in. It is quite amazing how lucky some of the people the Mill can't stand are.

Peon, I agree on all the TOP stats, etc. that help towards making us No.1 in pass D. Basically, I was referring to how we'd get carved up with 4-5 pass plays for quick scores by opponents as our coverage was so lax the last few years. Was it 6DB's, Carnell's influence, spreading out OUR offense to play THEIR style (Pats), whatever it is, from last f?
The other point towards TOP and better D stats is 3rd down converts - I've hammered Arians forever on this. With our talent level and some basic creativity, we should be at 60%.
THIS is THE key stat and it showed with Patsies. The next issue is to NOT settle for FG's in redzone. That game should have been over by 3rd qtr. We let them hang around until final minute, even after ALL the offense we showed.
Last and not least, Sepulveda is NOT the punter he was in rookie yr. Now it's bombs away down middle of field, regardless of touchbacks. Where are the coffin kicks and drop-dead punts he was famous for being drafted for? If I'm a coach, I fine my punter for any punt going into endzone and any kicker kicking out-of-bounds (Suisham anyone?) What do these guys do all day that they can't eliminate this crap from their game?

Re: New Article: Stillers-Patriots Postgame Analysis and Grades
For the first time in over a decade the Patriots look like a favorable match up for Pittsburgh.
GREAT to see the Stillers take out the New England with Tom Brady as the quarterback. A THANK YOU to Dick LeBeau for adjusting the defensive scheme. Whether it was because he knew it would work, or because he felt like amusing those of us who have clamored for press coverage, disrupting the Patriots timing routes was very effective. The secondary continues to impress.
Both of Woodley's sacks were drive killers, and his 2nd sack of Brady was possibly the play of the game.... New England was building offensive momentum, as Tommy Boy was in his element executing the 2 minute drill. Wood pushed the Patsies out of field goal range, and forced a conservative approach to insure they got points.
The offensive line looked outstanding. With no speed rusher, the Patriots weren't able to sustain any kind of consistent pressure.
Did I mention the secondary looks good? Well, the secondary is looking good.
Roethlisberger was awesome, 10 of 16 on 3rd down. "Fast Money" Wallace, "Cash Money" Brown and "Easy Money" Sanders ("The Young Money Crew") were definitely money here..... "Big Money" Miller certainly gave a good account of himself also.
