Mock Drafts?
Who's got some mock drafts:
bought Lindy's rag:
they have us taking -
Derek Sherrod, OT, Mississippi State in the first round
and
Ryan Williams, RB, Virginia Tech in the 2nd
I flipped throug The Sporting News Rag and I think they had us taking Stefen Wisnweski, G/C, Penn State in the first.
What else are you seeing projected out there?

Re: Mock Drafts?
Aaron Williams is the consensus #1 all across the internet. He would be a good fit in our scheme and he's tall, lengthy and has good hands unlike our current CBs but he lacks fluidity of players like Jimmy Smith and Brandon Harris.
My top tier for round 1 includes CB Jimmy Smith, G Pouncey and DE Cameron Heyward. It's likely all 3 of these guys will be gone by our pick. If so, I wouldn't mind an CB Aaron Williams or CB Brandon Harris. I'm really not liking any tackles in the first nor do I think it's an immediate need.

Re: Mock Drafts?
Interesting that you think we're going to go RB in the first. Are you that mad at Mendenhall's SB fumble (aka Arian's abortion )? I certainly hope the Steelers don't go after one that early in the draft but landing Ryan Williams wouldn't bother me too much. Noel Devine from WVU could probably be taken somewhere in the 4th or 5th and has that elite breakaway speed I think we need. It's about time for Mewelde Moore to get his roster spot challenged and remember we still have Dwyer rotting on the bench.
In round 2 I'm really liking Marcus Cannon. Trai Essex needs to be phased out of the roster and really need a permanent starter at RG. Most of our OL depth consists of career backups (Foster, Legursky, Essex, Hills, etc.). Other options include CB Curtis Brown and S Rahim Moore.

Re: Mock Drafts?
I definately don't think we should go RB in round one or even day one.
( I was just saying Lindy's projects us taking a RB in the 2nd)
I think our top priorities should be OT and CB, and I would take the best player at those positions in round one, and hopefully the best player at the other position in round 2.
(I think we really need two starting CB's but only see us getting one thru the draft.)
I agree we need a Guard also, but think a quality starter can be found in round three.
I would spend the late rounds looking for DL depth/development and help at Saftey.

As stupid as it sounds, I'm really liking Aaron Williams after watching this this fun little video with him and Prince Amukamara. Williams looks great in attacking the ball at the highest point. This could be a very good thing to have with the kind of pass rush we have.

31. Pittsburgh Steelers
Aaron Williams | CB | Texas [Jr.]
The Steelers' secondary could be hit hard by free agency, forcing a need-driven drafting team to add a cornerback. No one creates pressure better than Dick LeBeau does with his linebackers, and a cornerback with excellent short-area cover skills such as Williams would fit extremely well in Pittsburgh

Re: Mock Drafts?
walterfootball.com is the best mock draft site by far. I've been using it for a good 5 years now and they're pretty accurate with their predictions. You should definitely check it out if you haven't. Like many of the other sites, they also have us taking Williams:
31. Pittsburgh Steelers: Aaron Williams, CB/FS, Texas
This is a tough spot for the Steelers. General manager Kevin Colbert takes the best players on his board, but the top prospects available are running backs, wide receivers and 4-3 personnel.
The best player who makes sense for the Steelers is Aaron Williams. Williams is a better fit for Pittsburgh's defense than Brandon Harris, and he can play free safety in addition to cornerback. So, if he fails at corner, he could always replace Ryan Clark down the road (think Antrel Rolle).
Other 2011 NFL Draft Possibilities:
1. Brandon Harris, CB - The Steelers would love to obtain Maurkice Pouncey's brother, but he won't last this long. They'd have to trade up for him, but Pittsburgh doesn't believe in that. Another cornerback option is more realistic.
2. Ben Ijalana, OT/G - Pittsburgh really needs to upgrade its blocking to keep Ben Roethlisberger healthy. Ben Ijalana would be a slight reach, but he just had a great Pro Day.
