LeBeau and Stillers.com...
This is they original, analytical site that kicked off fan based reaction, praise and criticism of the Pittsburgh Steelers without the black and gold glasses on. That being said this site was at it's apex when we consistently got to the championship and never won the big one. We were in a 26 year drought and this site saw the real problems with winning a championship. At the time we had problems at D-Coordinator, Head Coach and QB that led us to never get over the hump.
We have improved in all of those areas though. I believe Tomlin is superior to Cowher in big games, Ben is a no-brainer, and LeBeau is 10 times better than Tim Lewis. The problem I see with this site is that most people are like me in the following way. We are $2 crack-addicted whores for a championship. (we will basically accept any means if the end is a Lombardi) What I mean is this is a watered-down, salary-capped version of the NFL. Parity rules the day so you can be very good and not great and still hoist the trophy. LeBeau has his faults but if we win a 3rd championship in 6 years (and a 2nd in 3 years) I don't know that I would fire coordinators. Now, should we LOSE to GB than it is something to ponder. I know we should strive for perfection and hold everyone accountable but 2 Lombardis in 3 years has to give you pause.

Don't get me wrong I believe Mill gives the best analysis of the Steelers' performance. It's just that even people that don't drink the kool-aid tend to overlook things when multiple super bowls are being won.

Anthony what I mean to say is that the depth and breadth of his analysis is usually spot on. It's just that some of the warts are excusable when winning championships is the result. I remember one of Mill's best articles was the infamous deck of cards articles referring to the villians that were holding the Steelers back from a 5th SB. While the way LeBeau's defense gives up 4th quarter points is alarming, he is a huge upgrade over Tim Lewis.
The bottom line is if we win a 3rd SB in 6 years it makes me apathetic to the Steelers' warts. (good thing I don't have Kevin Colbert's job) Mill gives an honest criticque of the Steelers and he points out the good and the bad regardless of whether or not we win SB's. I guess in that stance his standards are higher than mine. (basically Mill isn't a $2 ho for a championship like me)

I understand your point, but having the best defense (or near the top) consistently year in and year out in a league built on parody should not warrant Steeler fans calling for Lebeau's head - not to mention a superbowl 3 out of the last 6 tears.
I don't always agree with softee defense, especially late in games, but some of that is him knowing that his secondary is below average. Teams are going to take more shots deep on our secondary when trailing and he is looking for a good balance between making them eat clock and risking quick strike scores that put the opposition right back into the game. Also, we don't know how much impact Lebeau has on the practice field or in the film room and I get the impression that many of the players would take a bullet for this guy. It is very possible that the bad decisions on gameday are more than compensated for by the intangibles that we don't see during the week.

Re: LeBeau and Stillers.com...
It can be infuriating when we go to the soft - 10yd cushion crap, but when all said and done, you have to love it when the "D" takes the field lately.
What has changed all of the sudden? The coverage is tighter and when we rush to apply pressure, we create havoc it seems.
Why not do this all the time? Look at TOP advantages we've had last few games. Why we let Jets back in in 2nd half is just mind-boggling; how many times do you see games turn 180 degrees at half time? Even after Ike slipped, we should have continued pressure but we backed off.
If we apply the 5-6 man rushes/blitzes in SB, we should be alright. My concern is Arians, of course. His penchant for the deep stuff when just runing up the clock time to wear out the oposing D seems to escape him. Jets were gassed going into half as their offense could not get a handle on defense schemes. This is what makes DL so great. It is his "going soft" that also makes him so infuriating.
Steelers in another 24-20 down to the wire victory! TOP and a defensive score will seal the game for the team that has these.

I don't disagree but you could say the exact opposite happened with regard to the Ravens game where the Steelers made the better halftime adjustments. I guess we're all looking for more consistency, but people are mostly disagreeing with the magnitiude of the problems and how we express it.

It seems to me that the turning point was the Pats game. I believe it was on this site where I read that the Steelers led the league in pass defense since after that game and were bottom half of the league up to and including that game.
