While the Browns were hardly a good tune up for the Playoffs, I was pleased that we did not come out playing grab-ass and need to squeak out a win in the 4Q. Not once during the entire game were the Brown-stains allowed to have momentum or any hope of playing spoiler.

Kudos to ST coach Al Everest - Great game plan on KOs. Squib kicks completely nullified Josh Cribbs on returns.

The Quick Slant - Much to my amazement, Bruce Arians seems to have re-discovered the quick slant... and he used it more than once in a game. As I said last week, with the speed we have in Wally, Sanders, and A. Brown, this should be called several times per game.

Stevenson Sylvester - Every time I see this guy, I keep thinking he needs to get more PT. I am starting to think he will replace Farrior eventually. How did he fall to the end of the 5th Round???

Heath Miller for Hard Hat! Nothing made happier than watching him take a simple 6 yard out, turn up field and truck the hapless DB for 10 more yards of RAC and a 1st down. No Jukes. No ducking OOB (Mendy). Just put your helmet into someones chest and make them sorry they got in your way.

This was the best case scenario for going into the playoffs. Offense running on all cylinders, defense creating TOs. Hopefully, the long layoff does not slow down our momentum.

was nice to see that once we got the first TD that bruce didnt take his foot off the gas till the stains where long in the dust. was also nice to see the dicky didnt let mcoy get into any rhythm.

didnt like to see the starters on the field after halftime MT would be kicking himself in the nuts today if anyone would have got hurt

I saw part of the game at the Pittsburgh airport (thanks for the three-hour delay, Continental). The Browns were no competition, the game was over when Mangini settled for a field goal at 14-0. I wrote last week that 12-4 with all of the injuries and Ben R's absence for a quarter of the season is quite respectable. That's still true, and the Steelers should be in good shape for the first playoff game against anybody but the Jets. It would be nice not to have to play the Ravens because those games are so bruising (though I am confident the Steelers are the better team, especially after gutting out the last game against the Ravens and playing at home).

Mill, I especially appreciated the discussion of Ziggy Hood and the secondary in this post. The only way to beat the Pats (sorry for looking ahead) is to get a lead, run the ball, and hit Brady. One (a lead) is possible if Ben starts the game in gear and doesn't take most of the first half to warm up; two (running the ball) is possible if Mendenhall runs hard from start to finish and the Pats are worried about Wallace and Miller; three (hitting Brady) is going to take some work, especially from the secondary in coverage. Ryan Clark, start praying for the game of your life.

One thing we all can agree on is that the Steelers worked their asses off and exceeding all of our expectations. This group overcame:
- losing their #1 WR & SB Champion QB for 4 starts
- losing Colon & Starks
- piss-poor play calling particularily on offense
- James Harrison on NFL "wanted" posters
- the NFL referees' bending over the Steelers on Goodell's order

I think their success is mostly attributed to the veteran leaders on this team such has Hines, Aaron, Heath,Casey, and Farrior teaching & mentoring the young guys. Since Hines has been here, the Steelers have developed a lot of good young WR's even though some of them turned out to be Fuckheads and no longer with the team (Santonio, Burress). The proof of his leadership can be seen in the form of Wallace, Sanders, and Brown. You will not find a better trio of 1 or 2 year WR's on any other team, including the Cheatriots.

While many question what Farrior has left in the tank, no one can question this guy as a leader. And I'm sure that Aaron and Fat Casey are behind a lot of Ziggy's rapid improvement.

It would be interesting to dust off some of the old polls and board conversation before the season started. It was mostly doom & gloom - end of the world type shit. I for one am extremely pleased and proud to be a Steeler fan today. Mill - Can we dust some of that shit off and repost it?

I hate to sound cruel, but had Willie Colon been our starting right tackle this season, we would not be a #2 playoff seed right now............ IMO, the worst OL I've ever seen start for the Stillers.

Flozell Adams and Trai Essex might not be the best RTs out there, but definitely an upgrade over Colon.

Oh man, this was eye candy Steeler football. I agree totally on the Hood summary. Ziggy came out of his shell. I can remember troys tentative first season. Same thing and then ZAPPPP!!!!!!!!!! When the light came on it was lights OUT!

Beautiful destruction of the Brownies all around. Yeah, we'd rather play KC, but we play the Dolts and the Ravens soften up the Patsies for us in the AFC championship! We got a shot. Go Steelers!

Need better production in run game. WHY can't we had Redman on the field more????? Blocking, optional dump off, etc.
He leads, Mendy moves the chains,..... BUT NNOOOOOOOO.....There is NO FB in my offense.

Need to make Antonio and Sanders clones of Welker. With Ward as a given, Miller as clutch, Wallace making "D's" think, these 2 guys can do MAJOR LEAGUE damage to anyone. Think we'll see it?...... Yeah, me neither.

Problems if we get to SB- how do you fire the offensive OC?

One thing I was hoping to see though - Randell El getting a C minus. The slant that Ben tried to throw to him in the first quarter was due to reading blitz - but Randell El failed to read the blitz and ran his normal route - hence the ball hit him in the head...
