I enjoyed this game until we nearly pissed away a 20 point lead. The corners lined up 20 yards from the line of scrimmage on third down is just poor defense and nothing to be proud of. Jeff Reed needs shit canned now. I just knew when the kick is on the line he screw the pooch. Next week we get another team the Brown's just beat and now are pissed off and needing a win. Any letting the foot off the gas next week will just be plain embarassing

I was very impressed to see the passes to Mendenhall (1 to Moore), I remember us talking about this earlier in the year how this option was not utilized in the beginning of the season and it did very well last night. Developing this helps our receivers and TEs. I was happy with every aspect of our team except maybe the secondary in coverage and Reed. If Mendenhall did not make the cutbacks, catches and gashes for large gains, this game would have been lost. This game marks the 2nd game in a row that I was happy with the offensive play calling. Benji was given the no-huddle as a change of pace in the first half and it didn't really work well, however, seeing him audible to the run on the blitz was VERY impressive. He did this a number of times with great success, leading me to beleive that this must have been addressed during the week. There is no feeling bad about this WIN, there were alot of good things shown last night, a lot of new things to develop as we go into the 2nd half of the season. I love winning close games!

Side note: Anyone watch the Wallace interview at the ESPN desk at the end of the game. I was worried having seen his interviewd before, but he acted very well in a manner befitting a true Steeler. Good job Wally!

Mill, as usual...on the money...The Bungles threw to TO ALL NIGHT LONG...he has TEN catches and 2 TD...simple, the guy catches everything thrown to him so guess what? They keep throwing to him...Arians should get a fucking clue! Miller catches everything thrown to him but he had his usual 2-3 catches..his fumlbe last week notwithstanding, the guy is money...Here's another one....instead of those fucking BUBBLE screens which do NOTHING, why not let Miller slip off a block, absorb the blitz and dump it to him for 5-7 yards? Seems so simple to me but maybe I am just retarded...and here's another one...if Wallace is the fastest receiver in the NFL, why not have him run fly patterns ALL NIGHT LONG? If they double team, you're sure to have SOMEONE open, right? I don't know... :supissed:

The lameness of this kind of win is getting old. The OC is a complete idiot, what did they do in the 3rd q, I think 3, 3 and outs. I am sick of seeing the Ward Bubble Screen. You want to throw a screen, throw one to Mendenhall or Moore. You know like every other team is league. A screen to rb, can he maybe do that once? Ben needs to have a killer instinct, that pass to Miller was pathetic. Mcfadden is getting worse every week. He either gives a 10 yard cusion or is beat for a big play nearly every time he is on the tv. Can we bring in another kicker please, anyone, Reed can't even get it to the goal line on his kickoffs, and the late misses are getting so routine, it's a miracle when he makes anything longer than an extra point. Big Lamar is a waste, put in Worilds and see what he can do, Lamar reminds me of Kendrell Bell, great as a rookie, and after that blahhh. One thing about Fatass Casey's roughing the passer call. Don't you think he was thrown into him? How is that his fault? I thought that was a terrible call. Troy looks very ordinary the past 5 or 6 games. I don't know what is up but he looks a step too slow, and out of position way more than ever in the past. I would hope they can win at home next week, but with Brady licking his chops of Farrior, Gay, and Mcfadden in coeverage, I would expect 4 and 5 wides all day and them saying stop us if you can. I don't know if we can anymore.

Let's look at the glass as half full. This was a necessary win and there were some encouraging signs: great special teams play (except for Reed missing his last FG attempt); strong rushing by Mendenhall in the 4th quarter behind a makeshift offensive line; a stronger rush on the passer than last week because of the mostly correct decision to blitz Palmer. I have no major complaints with Arians: The Randle-El pass worked and the play call on Ben R's interception was correct - he just threw a duck. And the refs blew at least one, maybe even two calls on the Bengals' last TD drive (the penalty on Hampton was a joke; and the call on Ike Taylor came late from the ref who was on the other side of the field). The Steelers have to be considered in the playoff mix because no team is dominant this year. But let's not forget: William Gay, I smell something burning - wait it's you as TO catches another pass. And Ben R, where did you go in the second half? Finally, Flozell Adams, can we save the fisticuffs for the off-season?

The offense needs to step up next week - even if the defense occasionally gets to Brady on the blitz, it's going to be a long game for the secondary.

I have mentioned this several times already this season, but it bears repeating...
When looking at our special teams (with the exception of Hooker Reed), it is absolutely amazing how 1 simple coaching change can turn a weakness into a strength.
Why can't we apply that same logic to our OC? We must Fire Arians NOW!!!!

Let's look at some of the absolutely moronic series of play calling he had last night...
2Q - After Ben & Mendy get us out from the 1 yard line, he is faced with a 1st & 10 from his own 36. Bubble screen to the right to Ward for 1 yard. Not happy that this piece of shit play completely FAILED for the 22nd time this season, on 2nd and 9 The Blood Clot calls for a Bubble screen to the left to Ward, which FOOLS NO ONE, and results in a Ward fumble.

3Q - After having the entire halftime to scheme for the opening drive of the 2nd half, he starts with the end around to ARE for 2 yards. Followed by a glacially slow developing counter to Mendy, in which no less than 3 Bengals defenders were waiting for him before he got the hand off. On 3rd & 11 from his own 26, our depleted O-line is swamped by a Cincy blitz and BR7 gets sacked. Punt.

- Very Next series, 1st & 10 Run Mendy right for 8 yards. Same play on 2nd down for no gain. 3rd & short, basically the same play to Redman for no gain. BRILLIANT!!!!! Punt.

- VERY NEXT series, since 3 running plays in a row couldn't get the 1st down last time, let's try 3 straight pass plays. NOPE... Same result. Punt.

- On the next series, near the end of the 3rd Q, facing 3rd & 1, this dim bulb OC FINALLY realizes, 7 games & 44 minutes into the season, that if you need 1 yard, let your 6'5" 260 # QB lean on the pile. Success.

Way to completely piss away the entire 3rd Q of the game you sack of shit!!!!

Every time Troy was up near the LOS the Bungles audibled away from him. He was chasing plays from the back side all night. The real issue is Ryan Clark's inability to provide deep pass coverage! I believe that this is now our weakest link aside from Arians.

Do you guys not just "enjoy" watching a Steeler game on MNF? You know, as a "fan"? It's pretty easy to call out bad plays after the fact. But for all the plays that didn't work, there were plenty more that did. Hence, we're 6-2, in the hardest division with the 3rd hardest schedule in the league.

smheart, i know what you are saying , but we sure could use a solid, strong win against a decent team to make us feel like we have a good shot. We have not had a 10 point margin of victory except for agains the Bucs, who just aren't that good. We've lost to the best two teams we've faced. I have a very, very bad feeling about the Patsies game coming up. They will be up for us after getting tooled by the Clowns. Belichick takes a certain pleasure in outcoaching the Steelers, which he's done almost every time.

Farrior played well in this game. This is what, the second season the Steelers have had him full-time at the weak inside linebacker spot where he was originally signed for? From New York. This is as good as I can remember seeing Farrior. :subngtowl:
