NIKE GETS N.F.L. JERSEY CONTRACT PLAN TO CHANGE STILLER UNIS
Evidently Reebok got the contract taken away from them and Nike will now be the official uniform supplier for the N.F.L. and there may be some changes coming to the uniforms. Don't stock up on uni's just yet, as they may be outdated by the time you wear them for a season or two.

There's nothing in that article that says anything about specifically changing the Steelers uniforms. The change might be in the overall cut and fabric, nothing more.
Besides, the Rooneys say what changes are made, not Nike.

i'd like the square numbers back

I agree with hammer.Wish they'd bring back the block numbers. The rounded version is wussy looking.College and NFL uniforms sure have turned ugly the past few years.

I, too, wish they'd return to the blocky letters.
However, I don't think we have to worry about them changing the overall design. There would be public outcry over it, and, as said by a previous poster, the Rooneys wouldn't have it.
In my opinion, the best uniforms are simple: Steelers with black and gold and a single logo on the helmet, (dare I say this) Raiders with silver and black and blocky numbers, 1980s 49ers, the old blocky Vikings digs, Penn State with the best unis in the NCAA - blue, white and no logo. As a Mountaineer, I wish WVU would go back to the Don Nehlen days of blue jerseys with blocky letters and white pants. The ones they wear now make them look like pansies with the weird letters and yellow on the sides.

We will probably never see the block numbers again. Part of the reason for changing the uniform is for merchandizing. The rounded/slanted numbers that the Steelers have now are hard to copy. The NFL is having a difficult time with conterfeit jerseys for China right now. They don't publisize it because they know people would just look for the $50 knock-off vs. The $300 (which is insane) real thing.
