Every pass that was incomplete should of been a screen, every run that was stopped at the line should of been a pass over the middle, there should of been more wildcat plays, they should of run the ball more, they should of passed the ball more, every int was arians fault, ummm yeah, fire arians

Re: Arians Now?
Arians made the 1 adjustment I have been bitching about for 3 weeks. If you want to keep opposing safeties from playing in your backfield, then you have to throw the ball down field. Make them play pass coverage 30 yards from the LOS. This single adjustment opened the way for Mendy to have a fantastic day, especially in the 2nd half.
I still strongly dislike BA, but he called a decent game this week.

Agree. Although I think throwing the ball down field may have had to do more with the fact that the Bucs lost their starting safety due to suspension.

Exactly right, before we start gushing over how good this team really is (imo, tops in the division) Sunday's game exposed moreso the awfulness of Tampa Bay as opposed to how good we are. TB played Cleveland and Carolina and almost lost to Cleveland. Coupled with their injury at Safety, all we can say is that we can capitalize on a really bad team (which we didn't do last year).
We're tops in our division because we beat an Atlanta (now 2-1) team that upset the world champions and beat the Titans (now 2-1) (who averaged 34 points in their other 2 games) we held them to 11 points. I bet we'll look back on these teams later in the year and be really happy that we shut them down.

The way the Flaming Thumb Tacks are playing, it may become very important to hold the head-to-head tie breaker at the end of the season.

Re: Arians Now?
Thanks to the subject of this post for waking me up - Arians is a genius - how come I never saw it before. It only took a mandate from the owners to run the ball. It only took a mandate from the owners to use a a fullback (albeit a te or back). I wonder whose mandate it was to allow a qb to play qb and throw the ball downfield instead of screen plays and dump offs all game long.

All I have to say about Arians is that he better find a way to slow down the RatBirds rushers this wk - either by screens to Mendy or seam routes.
I don't want to see Batch sitting back there too often looking for Wallace - once or twice to keep them honest. Batch won't have the luxury of making his progressions - you know Suggs & Lewis & Ngata will be teeing off.

Agree w/ SoCal. I still dislike Arians but he did call a decent game. Not sure why Mendy in late in 4th unless to bag yards. Best game the Bloodclot called in years. Finally opened up the box for Mendy to roam.
This young man has a motor. I am impressed with his Steeler 'tude!
Three wides w/Hines, Wally, and Brown or Sanders will keep ANY "D" honest. Even the Rat-turds this week would need to gameplan for Wally and Brown.
Does ANYONE think Arians learned anything from the TB game?

I would like to see Brown as the 3rd WR but we all know it will be El since Brown is a rookie. Imagine both Wally and Brown stretching the defense! I don't think the rats would have an answer for it.

Re: Arians Now?
Can we get someone in the FO to mandate that he remove that stupid WR screen from the playbook? It hasn't worked in 2 years. Yet, we ran it 4 times on Sunday.
Another thing I am getting tired of hearing this week is that, "With Charlie in there, the whole playbook was open." WTF??? Dixon is in his 3rd year. If he ain't got the whole playbook down by now....

Foxsports power rankings pretty much confirms this thinking. Ranking the Titans and Falcons at 3rd and 4th ahead of many other good teams and behind only the Steelers and Colts.

Stillgrill has a good point here. Charlie was taking a lot of time to search out receivers - just a hint faster than Roethlisberger. Makes the case for us having a handful of WRs that can't get open. It seems as if most of the passes to Hines occur after 4-5 seconds have elapsed. The days of the skinny post to him seem over.

Re: Arians Now?
If you had told me that we'd be 3-0 & that Heath Miller hadn't been a big part of it (8 catches, ZERO TD's), I woulda thought you were a nut.
Moreso than looking down field to a suspect D-backfield or to Hines as the 3rd & 4 guy, friggin Arians needs to employ Heath. I don't know if Ben just seems to find him as a safety valve, but where has he been?
I really hope he doesn't need to stay in & max protect this wk.

He will absolutely stay into protect this week, like he and Speath (improved) did last week. This was a big part of why the offensive line had no sacks last week. Without Ben and against the Ravens 'D', I'd fully expect our TE's blocking most of the game.
