Al Everest is the new Special Teams coach
Thoughts on this guy? He was San Francisco's special teams coach. Didn't do too much digging but in the 2009 season, San Fran ranked near the bottom on kick return yardgae. Btw, for the Logan haters, has anyone noticed Logan, quietly, ranked number three in total return yardage benhind Cribbs who is number two? We have to keep him and FU to those who hate on him. Clearly he's got return skills. But that's not what we're worried about so much: wtf did San Fran do on kick and punt coverage? Well, I couldn't find any good data on this. Discuss. Inform. School my greenhorned rookie ass. Is Everest a wise choice or just merely better than the bile of this past season?
You asked with your eyes Trent, you asked with your eyes.

My apologies to mckeesrockstheburg who already started the discussion on Al Everest. I missed it like a Steeler trying to tackle a kick returner. Oh the irony!

No apology necessary. Let's get the info!
Glad, you and, HOPEFULLY, others care enough to inquire. His resume LOOKED good BUT always concerned when someone is fired - especially on team in a "re-building" mode. If he was a standout, I would think he would be integral part of the re-build process. If not, get rid of him. Why did they? Singletary is a no nonsense guy. Doesn't look good to me. Wrong?

it's almost impossible to tell. maybe he didn't have the talent to work with and took the hit for it.

Clearly the Steeler FO is bargain basement hunting, going for the cheapest that they can find, to fill their coaching voids. Think about it, if you got fired from your previous job could you demand top salary on your next job? When you promote a guy from within you tell him that he can't get the big bucks because he's inexperienced in the new position.

that makes sense... trying to get lucky with some cheap coaches.
all we can do is hope that they at least saw something promising in these castoffs, other than the price tag.
