Should we activate Sweed? (seriously)
As much of a goat sweed has been lately, I can't help but to think of the potential this kid may have. He has the ability to get open as shown this year and last, and if he could actually catch the ball, he'd be a HUGE weapon.
He's shown the ability to catch in practice, his skills and ability is there. What he needs is to build his confidence up. We have 2 games vs lowly detroit and cleveland, perfect opportunity to give him a couple more shots?

Yes. Sweed, just like Mendenhall, has tremendous potential and physical attributes. BA would be wise to get him going on some shorter routes (screens, 10-yd outs) to get his confidence back. We need that big presence to draw coverage in the secondary, which always helps free up other receivers and backs. To give up on him now would be premature, just don't throw it to him in the end zone for a few weeks.

FUCK LIMAS SWEED.
He can rot on the inactive list until he learns to catch.
He cost us a game this year already.

Thats a tough call. He did spend one game in the doghouse so he is on notice. I would imagine he has to catch 100 passes in a row in practice before Tomlin will even consider it

I know it's early in Sweed's career, but I have absolutely no faith in him. Way too many dropped balls when he's been wide open. I think we just keep using Wallace's speed to open the other receivers, not to mention Wallace himself.......
I'll take McDonald over Sweed everyday of the week and twice on Sunday......
Shit, I'd take Logan over Sweed for that matter

I am a little different than most on this board in that I gernerally defer to the COACHING STAFF when it comes to player decisions. I am not one who was calling for Redman when he was cut, because I did not watch him play and practice or break down his performance like the coaches who saw him daily. He is talented and I hope he develops into something with us, but the coaches are not interested in anything other than winning, so they put who they think are the best players on the field to help them do that. And they alone have the best information to make those calls.
I feel with Sweed as I do with all the players. If he shows that he will contribute and will help us play winning football, he should play. If not, he should sit. I hope he responds the way Mendy did.

I like McDonald this week. Ben will get him the ball a little bit since we are taking Shaun back to Detroit.

I've been as pissed off at Sweed as anyone, but this could be the perfect opportunity to build his confidence against a pedestrian pass defense. I say activate him.

i like mcdonald too and i think as far as right now, he's the better WR. however, i still think sweed has some tremendous upside if he has a game or maybe a few plays he can build on. last thing i wanna see is us cut the guy and play for say, cincy or baltimore and it comes back to bite us in the ass. know what im saying? i honestly think it's only a matter of time before he breaks out, he's got too much talent not to.

NO!!! DON'T ACTIVATE IMUS PEED . He needs to learn some kind of lesson that will stick with him-he hasn't learned jack shit. Our Stiller's & our season can ill afford idiot drops such as his at crucial and critical game times. I'm telling you people that he is another "Pinkston" like Philly had in S.B. 39. He ain't never gonna be a Swanney.

i think though IF we were to give him another shot, it would be against teams like detroit or cleveland. barring a huge shitting of the bed, we should win these games easily even if sweed drops 5 potential td passes

LOL @ Ike Taylor.
But aren't we setting the bar kind of high by saying he will never be swanney? I just remember so many people thinking that a 1st round pick we had a fews years back was a bust after his first year and that he was a wasted choice. The coaches knew his talent, but because he did not do much his first year, our coaches were blasted for the pick. I even heard some people calling for him to be cut... Troy Polamalu proved the coaches right and his detractors wrong.
I hope that Sweed gets focused and turns out to be what we thought he was... a 2nd round steal. That is up to him, however. The attitude seems to be more reminiscent of Plax than Swanney but I hope he gets his head on straight because we need all the playmakers we can get on the field and he has the talent to be a contributor.
Thank goodness for Wallace and a smart signing of McDonald. Front office gets two points for these moves.

Re: Should we activate Sweed? (seriously)
How many dropped balls and missed TDs do you give this sonofabitch?
NO. He DOES NOT deserve any other chance. Get him the hell off the team. Trade him, cut him....
Potential? What? This is the NFL. Not a farm league. You either produce, or you get the hell out.
What is clear is that this clown was a reach.

Re: Should we activate Sweed? (seriously)
Unless the special teams units are hurting for players, Sweed will probably sit again.
Re: Should we activate Sweed? (seriously)
I say NO to that. Mike Wallace is alot better than Sweed. We're better off leaving him in the third receiver spot. He's better in that spot than Nate was last year. It would be a huge mistake putting Sweed back in the lineup. This team needs definites, not maybes at this point in time.
Bruce Arians: Proudly carried the Honor of Short Bus All-Star 2007-2011. Good job, and glad you're gone Dumbfuck!!!!!
