Reed's Kicking, Sepulveda's Holding, or Both?
Prior to this season, Jeff Reed was a very reliable and consistent FG kicker....... I wonder if there's maybe something fishy with Sepulveda's holds on the place kicks. Mind you, Reed kicked an UGLY FG the previous week........ (It happened to split the uprights, but it should have been blocked.) I don't think Reed was this awful on three kicks all of last season. (He missed a few, but none of them looked like a kid trying to play golf for the very first time.)
If there isn't any issue with Sepulveda as the holder, Reed has definitely gotten a fundamental quirk in the way he's striking the football, and it needs to be remedied as soon as possible. Bring in a kicking coach, if need be.

Whenever Tom Brady loses, it's always someone else's fault.

Re: Reed's Kicking, Sepulveda's Holding, or Both?
There had to be a reason his contract wasn't re-upped; maybe this was it. I don't have the data but I think he missed a few FG's he should have made last year, but never got called on it because we won anyway? Any rigorous stats keepers out there?
That look on his face on the sideline after those missed kicks was the look of a man who'd just lost several million bucks. His agent said the Steelers' contract offer this summer "wasn't even close". When he comes back in at the end of the year to try to extend the contract for Jeffy, the Stillers are going to have 30 seconds of video waiting for him: missed kick one vs. Chicago, missed kick 2 vs. Chicago, Bears' kicker making it from farther out for the V.
He'd better step it up or he's gone. I do remember what a hard time we had with kickers before Reed came in. But we're talking about the team that let Gary Anderson go. Ask Colts fans if they got their $ worth in Vinatieri.
