Crumpler intentionally wrecked Pola's knee

Postby SteelBeach » Wed Sep 16, 2009 12:22 pm

I happen to be watching some recaps today and saw the play up close and in slow motion. WIthout a doubt, Crumpler looks down, sees Polamalu's extended leg, and cannonballs it with his full weight. No question about it. Intentional.

How do you know what Crumpler was looking at?

Is it possible that, Crumpler was looking for the loose ball?

That's the first thing that crossed my mind too, but if you look at the play, Crumpler sees Pola get the ball. If he wanted to go for the ball, he could have. Instead, he goes for Polamalu's extended knee.

Check out this video at 50 seconds in...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1O3wrplWco

It's not the low angle close up, which is what I saw when I came to this conclusion, but you can see that he was never pushed or had any reason to fall.

That's the way that I saw it too. I thought it was obvious. But like witnesses to a crime, people don't always see things the same way. Apparently this is a minority view around here. Minority but correct.

While you're at it, go look at how Finnegan punches Heath Miller in the back when Hine's fumbled. I think they had words earlier in the game when Moore pushed Finnegan after a play. I saw in slow mo and it was definitely a "punch".

Watching it at normal speed, I didn't think it looked like he really went after him intentionally.
