Officials

Postby BigE » Fri Sep 11, 2009 5:44 pm

I don't want to harp on the officials, because I am a football and basketball official. And yes, they have a tough job. However, these guys are supposed to be the best at what they do. Last night's game was inexcusable for the way in which it was called. On Troy's late hit OOB, the ball carrier was still in the field of play when Troy launched himself to make the tackle (horseshit call). The second was a piece of shit pass interference call on Troy. If anything, this should have been offensive pass interference, as Troy clearly had established position on the receiver and was pushed in the back by the receiver, what was the back judge looking at? And last but not least, the constant holding that goes on with Harrison. Max Starks was called for a bullshit hold which negated a first down, on the very next Titan possession, Harrison had gotten around Roos and was blatantly held and taken to the ground, but yet no flag was ever thrown. This is becoming extremely disgusting, do people have it out for Harrison. These guys are expected to do a better job than what was done last night, but unfortunately, Mike Periera will sugarcoat everything when he explains the calls.

I agree the officials last night were horrible. Two of the three calls on Troy were bull. Along with calling holding on the Pittsburg tackle and letting Titans get away with worse.

Those officials always have some excuse and a useless apology the day after the game is reviewed-that's nice but it's a little to late if the game was a "L" rather than a "W" as a result of shitty calls. About Harrison, reminds me of SB 43 when the camera just happened to focus on him punching the crap outta the dude holding him-again they failed to notice the hold versus Harrison's reaction. We should not be surprised...

Makes me think there's something to the idea that the officials secretely control, or try to control, the outcome of the games.

I always thought that the NHL has the best officials of them all. The reason? They are young enough to keep up with dudes flying around the ice. I think the NFL needs full-time officials, who are fast enough to get in position and make the right calls.

I know someone who places bets that swears it's mostly steelers and chargers games that are rigged. And after last years game, especially the bizarre ending, I'm thinking more and more he's right.
