Observations from last nights game. IMHO

Postby PSUPERCY » Fri Sep 11, 2009 12:54 pm

1. Is Mewelde Moore more effective than FWP?
2. Mendy sucks.
3. The "lightning" "spread" no huddle thing, is far more productive than .5 yds and a fart cloud of dust.
4. Why is Polamalu even in on FG block? It's clear he is the key to the defense working. (I mean, PASS defense working) Which leads me to...
5. Ike Taylor is overrated. Minus one play Kenny Britt, a rookie, owned him. He is always close to the guy but never makes the freakin play. He is no shutdown corner, letdown corner is more like it.
6. Our O-lineman can handle a tired four man front.
7. Ward can still play. He gets a pass on the fumble, he's Hines.
8. Fatboy Hampton takes plays off (while still on the field).
9. Heath Miller is The Man
10. Logan and Sepulveda gives us at least two games.

Wow, I agree with everything you said, if the answer to #1 is "yes". I usually don't agree with many around here.

The answer to #1 is yes, Moore should start. He's effective, durable, has hands, a decent blocker, and is a team guy. I still get queasy over not converting third and one.

I forgot,

11. four sacks times sixteen games does not equal repeat; it does equal a waste of 100 million dollars though.

Does Mendy suck? Did FWP look like an all-star? Moore looked good because he caught the ball out in the flat... not running behind our o-line.

Our lack of running production starts and ends with our O-line. Not sure we can make a judgment on any back that tried to run behind the offnesive line we have. They are like government workers... OVERPAID AND UNPRODUCTIVE.

As a matter of fact, from now and forever more I will refer to this group as the "Government Workers" until such time as they prove they can handle a 4- man front.

Arians and Tomlin are both accountable for our O-line. I give neither a pass.

I agree with your assessment of the the o-line. However, at this point that is not going to change. A tiptoe-ing FWP and Mendy are not going to give us the best chance to win.

FWP was pathetic. No vision in the rare cases there was a hole, tip toeing to the line, and hesitant on every run. The fact he didn't play the pre-season, and Tennessee is pretty good, I'll give him 1 more week to change my mind, but if he can't run on the Bears tired old D, we would do well to just cut him and activate Redman.

As far as Mendy, I agree he didn't look good either, but I believe he could be as effective as Moore in the same role. He came from a spread offense in college and does a really nice job in space. He doesn't run with anger as a primary back should, but I think he would be good at draws and against a spread out defense. He also showed in college to have good hands, but has never been given the chance with the Steelers.

We should move Moore to the starting running back, have Mendy as the 3rd down guy, and Redman as the short yardage back.

I'm willing to give Summers a little time too. It was his first game, on Primetime, and against a good team. It's a long season. He may never be what some hoped for, but let's not roll him out as a "Bust" quite yet.

FWP looked only like Willie, definately not fast or anything like a Steeler running back should look like. I wasn't impressed with Mendy either. Did not agree when I heard the Steelers kept "Tank" and put Redman on the practice squad. If I recall the reason was that Tank could also play fullback. That was the lamest fullback play I can recall. Swap Tank and Redman, Start more. Sit Willie until he decides to play football.

Please be careful with that. If you think about it, our military are government workers.
