Always nice to win.
Carey Davis returned to the preseason game, after leaving with an undisclosed injury.
But did Lawrence Timmons?
Timmons suffered an ankle injury during the preseason game.
Parker & Holmes didn't dress.
QB Dennis Dixon (shoulder) could return to practice as early as the beginning of next week. He likely will not play in the team's final preseason game.

Nice video highlights (and a couple low-lights) from the teams final preseas0n game against the Bills.
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d8123ed4c/Pre-WK-3-Ben-Roethlisberger-highlights
includes a few nice grabs by Hines.
One by Sweed & miller.
Can see some ugly too of O-line and Ben fumble.
Over all Ben was 15 of 19 for 168 yards in a half of football.

Re: Preseason Game verse Bills
Mendenhall finished with 48 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries.
NFL.com says
They fail to mention that he also lost a fumble.
Redman was 13 for 31.
Ward 5 grabs for 74 yards
Sweed 4 grabs for 34 yards

Got to give some love to Farrior also.
Hell of a game. INT returned for TD, Sack, Forced Fumble
Blocked kick by Burnette also nice.
NFL.com says
no hesitation in hitting the holes opened by his offensive line and offered a glimpse of what could be a big role in the red zone this season. He took a handoff 4 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter

Re: Preseason Game verse Bills
Random thoughts from the game...
- It was nice to see Ben check down to Mendy as a viable option out of the backfield. Moore also had some nice grabs. Redman's rumble on a swing pass was sweet.
- RB might be the toughest position to make the 53 man roster.
- Mendy's fumble was his fault, but he had a big assist by the pussified blocking of Kemo. WTF? Kemo needs to keep his head in the game and stop taking plays off.
- Both Sweed and Wallace looked solid. I think Sweed wins #3 Receiver based on size. It will be nice to get reliable production from these 2 spots for a change. I don't think Dallas Baker has a prayer. McDonald should be #5.
- I can't see us cutting Logan at this point. He gives us a spark at a position that has been a black hole since Randle El left.
- Keyaron Fox could probably start for a few other teams in this league. He was laying out people left and right on D and ST... Again! This kind of depth is key to winning in January.
- Preseason game #3 is supposed to be a good barometer of where your team is heading into week #1. Either we are in mid-season form or Buffalo is impersonating Detroit. I suspect a little of both.

Re: Preseason Game verse Bills
Was it just me, or did any of you notice, the offense moved best when Ben was in charge, calling plays in hurry-up?
Watced the game on justintv streaming and heard an announcer make the comment, "There's Bruce Arians, always thinking how to attack a defense, how to move the ball." What drivel.
N.A.I. = NO ARIANS INTERFERENCE.
Anyone else notice how well Ben moved the team when was Arians out of the picture or is it just my distaste for this guy?

Yes! We always move the ball when Ben runs the offense. Hopefully Tomlin realizes this and will tell BA to back off and let Ben run the show. With the weapons we have this year, Ben could easily have 30-35 TD passes as long as Arians doesn't run interference.

Re: Preseason Game verse Bills
Seppy hittin' the coffin corner, then the "D" gets 3 'n outs deep in opposition territory, Logan running punts back to field positions starting at our 50 or even better inside the 40!
But wait, it gets even better!... WE GOT ARIANS!!! Here he comes to save the day!
"Wake up, wake up it's time to go to work!"...whew, alarm clock wakes me just in time!

Re: Preseason Game verse Bills
Takeaways from the Bills game:
-Redman ran strong for the most part, some short yardage situations he looked quite human...acquitted himself nicely in pass pro. All that said he probably doesn't unseat a vet for a roster spot...
-Sweed looks like he has turned the corner. Unstopabble over the middle but needs to show more catching the ball as a vertical threat...
- Like to see Logan retain a roster spot. Reminds me a little of Brownstains Stiller killer Eric Metcalf. But having Wallace returning would not be a much of a downgrade and would save a roster spot...
-Hines hasn't lost a step or the fire. Looks like he could play at a level of excellence for at least 3 more years
-The D is more unpredictable and scary than even last year. Several strange looks including a one DL set, and what looked like Troy playing FS on some snaps. Good luck opposing OC's.....

I agree about Fox. He's in on almost every ST tackle and provides great depth at LB. Unsung hero much like J Harrison used to be.

Once again, we line up in the bunch formation for an obvious running situation. Buffalo seizes the opportunity to crowd 9 guys in the box. Results = Mendy tackled for 3 yard loss + Holding Penalty on Sweed who was assigned to block a DE. I really wish I could grasp the logic in this play call.

Re: Preseason Game verse Bills
How many times? HOW MANY FREAKIN' TIMES DO WE HAVE TO WATCH THIS "Bunch" NONSENSE?
What EXACTLY does MT see when he reviews game film? Just once, ...just 1 time I would love to see a quick hit pass to Miller, Spaeth or now Sweed just behind the linebackers out of this ridiculous formation. I know, I'm dreaming again but this guy makes my hair hurt! For the life of all that is good and Pgh., why can't Arians see he HAS TO slow down the linebacker rush and give them something to think about. That's why we can't do screen passes anymore. Too many guys in the box and everyone has a hat on them. They can just follow their man to the ball.
I believe Mendy has "IT" but holy cow, he has to break 3 tackles just to get to the LOS. Why? Because Idiot Arians has the ^&%$ box stacked against him and the others.
Said it before in many posts, no imagination! 2 run formations and 3 pass plays do not make a playbook.
If he was fired, (dreaming again?), would anyone pick him up?
That's why we move the ball best when Ben is in control. We ALL see that! Why in the Sam Hill can't THEY see that?
