3rd TE

Postby thesteelhammer » Thu Aug 20, 2009 7:07 pm

CBSSports.com reports Pittsburgh Steelers TE David Johnson has the edge over TE Sean McHugh for the No. 3 tight end position

McHugh has been the FB also
What's that say about who's going to be kept in the back field?

McHugh missed practice today also.
Can't make the team in the hot tub.

I'm rooting for Johnson as the blocking TE and 3rd stringer project and no question I'm still high on Summers to make the squad as a FB. They both may be looking at the PS though. It wouldn't surprise me either way.

I think McHugh may be the odd man out. I like what I've seen from Johnson and read somewhere that he has also been put in as a blocking FB at times and done well. Unfortunately, I think Carey Davis sticks with the team as the main FB with Johnson as #3 TE and backup FB. The play of Summers could change that, but one or the other of Johnson/Summers will probably go to the PS.

All things being equal, the higher-priced talent will be gone. We will get an excellent look at our ground game this Saturday, especially if BR does not suit up.
