Rod Woodson
"Rod" is all that needs said. This "man among boys" will forever be my 2nd favorite behind Mel Blount as Steelers take their bows over the years. Saddest day in franchise history was when he left. Turned out great for him and that's OK. This guy was special. Maybe someone will create a game of 2 againt 11 where the 2 win with talent, will, and selflessness. Blount and Rod will be those 2.

Rod an Mel are the best two CBs ever.
But if I had to choose just one, It'd be Mel Blount.

Re: Rod Woodson
How about we put Mel at corner and Rod at safety? That way they're both accounted for. No way could I pick 1 over the other.
Mel Blount still looks like he could suit up and play, maybe as the 3rd or 4th guy, but remember, he's 60 years old! Might have to back off the line an extra yard though!
Need to get Rod a clipboard and a whistle. He needs to be on the sideline. OUR sideline.

Re: Rod Woodson
In one respect I'm kinda pissed he didn't stay with Da Stillers-he was offered a lucrative contract to play at the safety spot and he adamantly refused as he wanted to stay at corner. In another respect playing with the infamous Head Coach: "Silly Cowshit" the rest of his career-he may not have won a S.B. Ring prior to retirement which would have been an even greivious crime given the caliber of player he was.

Re: Rod Woodson
That was the point of my earlier reply where it worked out well for him. I agree, he may have never gotten a ring staying with the Steelers. NOW, he needs to be on the sideline with a clipboard coaching our D-backs. Too much knowledge, respect, insight for it to be wasted.

Watching his enshrinement on ESPN right now.
His presenter said "I think people will remember him as a Pittsburgh Steeler"

I am actually in Canton Ohio and I got to listen to Rod Woodson's speech on his induction of the Hall of Fame and what a speech that was. He is a quality guy and overall great NFL legend. There was no doubt lots of Steeler fans waving their towels for him as he walked up to the podium, when they introduced him, when they spoke of him, whatever had to do with him the Steeler fans let them know we loved him. I waved my towel for him because he inspired me as a defensive back and a dedicated player. I noticed that there was no browns fans showing their team spirit but I guess I understand why There was only a few Raven fans there but the NFL made sure he was recognized as a Steeler the most. Definitely a great sight to see all the terrible towels waving proudly as another Steeler enters the Hall of Fame. Mel Blount and Mean Joe Greene were there as well. I wish Terry could have came but oh well. I think the next Steeler that will be inducted to the Hall of Fame will be Jerome "The Bus" Bettis and you bet your ass I will make sure somehow I will be there.
Go Steelers!!! Let's have a great 2009-2010 season!

Re: Rod Woodson
Rod,
Congratulations, man. Thanks for all the great memories. One in particular was a Monday night VS. Buffalo, you intercepted a pass and highstepped into the end zone- then your left foot sort of slipped or buckled as you crossed the goal line... giving me, Coach Cowher and half the STEEL NATION HEART ATTACKS! That's when I knew how much we loved ya! You are and forever will be a STILLER!
Thanks again.
