The "official" Steelers web-site says that Foote is "still a member" of the team, And stories indicating that Foots "has been released" are "inaccurate".

What do you make of those particular choice of words?

Contrary to a previous report, Tom Kowalski, of MLive.com, reports Pittsburgh Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert said LB Larry Foote is still a member of the Steelers.

and if it is true that he has not been cut, ESPN.com's Len Pasuarelli really screwed up when he reported:

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Pittsburgh Steelers have released ILB Larry Foote. He had a salary cap figure of $3.5 million for 2009 and the team will have his $2.885 million base salary removed from their cap hit.

Bouchette is telling another story.

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers LB Larry Foote said he is the one who is asking for the team to move him because he wants to be a starter who is a three-down player. Foote only played on first and second down last season. The Steelers will keep him on the roster until after the team's upocoming minicamp so they can try to trade him before releasing him.

Will the Steelers give into this?
Did Foote just kill any trade value for himself?

This sure asounds like Tampering to me.

John Niyo, of The Detroit News, reports recently released LB Larry Foote (Steelers) hopes to sign as a free agent with the Detroit Lions. He is a Detroit native and played for the University of Michigan. "My agent is talking to them about me coming home, and we'll go from there. But no question about it, that is my first choice," Foote said.

Looks like Colts and Lions might both be interested.

and we've already turned down a 7th round pick for him.
