Leftwich gets two year offer ...
and it's from the Steelers.
Now will he sign it?
Ed Bouchette, of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports the Pittsburgh Steelers have offered free-agent QB Byron Leftwich a two-year deal to re-sign with them. According to sources, the deal is close to minimum wage ($620,000 in 2009 and $755,000 in 2010) for Leftwich. If he returns to Pittsburgh, he would prefer a one-year deal.

I don't know. I think this is a case where maybe another $2-3 million over 2 years could have made a difference. Lefty wants a starting job pretty bad, as indicated by his visits to DC/Tampa. I really hope we can keep him. As much as we all like Batch for being a great athlete as well as a stand-up guy in the community, I think his playing days may be behind him. And I think we can all agree that with Ben's style of play, we need a solid reliever in the bullpen. The only thing that may save us is that it seems that other teams just aren't that interested in Lefty, which I find rather hard to believe, considering the large number of mediocre QBs in starting positions around the league.

BL only agrees to Pgh's offer is NO team gives him a chance of being a starter. I find that hard to believe, considering how crap the Jets, Skins, Bucs, Lions, Broncos, etc. QB situations are.

Unrestricted free-agent QB Byron Leftwich finally received a contract offer from the Steelers, but it may not be enough to persuade him to return to Pittsburgh.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers offered Leftwich a contract that would pay him slightly more than the veteran minimum.
Leftwich has paid visits to the Redskins and the Buccaneers but didn’t reach agreement with either team. He is considered arguably the top quarterback remaining on the free-agent market.
The Steelers acquired Leftwich last year after backup Charlie Batch was lost for the season due to injury. The team has indicated that it wants to bring back Leftwich or Batch, or both, as a backup to Ben Roethlisberger
