Do you agree with Tomlin or Lewis?

Postby thesteelhammer » Wed Mar 25, 2009 7:27 pm

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he believes the Baltimore Ravens are the team to beat in the AFC North in 2009. "You have to like Baltimore. They won 11 games last year with a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback. They have a good football team. They have a great defense, they have a quarterback who proved he's their quarterback of the future, he's a guy on the rise. You have to respect that," Tomlin said.

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said he believes the Pittsburgh Steelers are the team to beat in the AFC North in 2009.

Nice try Mike, but everybody knows that to "be the champ, you have to beat the champ."

Depends on what the FO does in the draft. Hopefully they're doing their homework.
OL, DL, DB, WR.

The Ravens will not even sniff the playoffs in 09. For all the talk of great Flaco he is due for the sophmore slump in year two as a starter. The Ravens are not the same team on defense after losing Rex Ryan and rest of their free agent starters except for looking very :celebrate: old Ray Ray.

That is so Tomlin to say that. He is just trying to stave off that post championship complacency. Remember the 06 campaign after SBXL. Even though Ben was hurt, it was undeniable that they were still 'fat and happy'.

Tomlin is so much better at dealing w/ success than Cowher ever was. Cowher should have just coached from his La-Z-Boy his last yr & the team treated it like a 16 game vacation. Even after 2 yrs, Tomlin feels he has a lot to prove & his teams will reflect that. Thank gawd the Rooney's took a chance on him.

I don't buy that Balt. is the team to beat; I don't buy that Tomlin believes it himself, but I __DO__ love the fact that Tomlin is smart enough to say it! Exactly what he should be saying. Tomlin is the MAN. He wins a Super Bowl in only his second year as a head coach. I do give Rooneys kudos for making the right hire. :sudancin:

By the way, I don't see Balt. being much more than an 8-8, 9-7 kind of team. Their offense will be better but their D won't be nearly as tough.

Yeah, I don't believe in sophmore jinxs, but I do believe in teams having a year of tape on a QB. If Flacco is to prosper he will have to adjust like a certain QB in his own division did. I very much agree that their D will be oldr and down.
