If Marvel asked to play RT instead of LT might be a good situation for Marvel if his back is in fact healthy as he claims it is. Wouldn't be as much pressure on his achy back playing the right side of the line...until he faced Smith and Woodley that is

At this stage, just ASKING Marvel "Comic Book" Smith to play is huge.

No MD here, but I would suspect he is just about at the end of the rope medically.

Looks like the Ravens have figure out Marvel has some health problems.

Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun, reports the Baltimore Ravens' interest in free-agent OT Marvel Smith (Steelers) has cooled. The Ravens had exploratory talks with Smith over the weekend but didn't contact him Monday, March 2. Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun, reports the Baltimore Ravens could save $2.9 million by releasing OT Willie Anderson.

Of course he is. I don't know how anyone who has followed sports for any length of time doesn't realize that once a back goes, especially on big guys, they can never come back for any length of time. He will be hurt again, if he even makes the field for the regular season again.

I hope Marvel gets at least one or two more seasons of football wherever he goes. Too bad about his back, the guy definitely has the physique and talent to be a great O-lineman.

I'm sure Marvel will enjoy Mike Singletary gettin' all naked during his halftime sermons. Must be something in the air in San Fran...
