Tone - the real gloved one

Postby steelmoney » Tue Feb 17, 2009 2:25 pm

PITTSBURGH -- The gloves worn by Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Santonio Holmes when he caught the game-winning touchdown pass in Super Bowl XLIII have grabbed $70,200 for charity.

Holmes auctioned the Reebok gloves for the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America Inc. Holmes's 6-year-old son, Santonio III, has the blood disease.

Bidding for the gloves nearly doubled in the final hour of the auction, which ended Sunday night. A total of 163 bids were placed.

Very cool, but those gloves should be in the HOF.

I think that in this case it is definitely for a worthy cause that those gloves are not in the HOF.
