Cowher picks cards

Postby McLovin » Thu Jan 29, 2009 1:58 pm

In CBSsportsline video clip Cowher says "Cards have an excellent chance to win." At first McLovin thought Cowher just didn't want to come right out and say who the winner would be by phrasing it that way but Bumhole Esiason gave him a chance to pick the Steelers and Cowher again said,"I like the matchup for the cards." If anybody knows the matchups both coaches and players its Cowher. Marino and Boomer flat out said the Steelers would win. Horseface Sharpe didn't pick said same thing as Cowher...good matchup for the Cards. So what do you guys think...just a PR move by Cowher so everybody wouldn't say "figures Steelers coach picking the Steelers" or is he Whiz's boy and going with the Cards for real? Rod another Pittsburgh guy taking the Cards as well, but in Rod's defense he's been promoting Cards since last year on NFL network.

That was kind of McLovin's thinking, but CBS doesn't care... they're not carrying the game so why not man up and make the pick? Maybe Cowher is waiting for Sunday to actually step up with a prediction. You know that Whisenhunt is from his "coaching tree" so it wouldn't surprise McLovin if he picked the Cards outright on Sunday. Woodson generally a stat and name butcher and a terrible tipper but to his credit he has been touting the Cards for two years now.

they wont let these ex steelers homer around, just like Terry picking San Diego 3 weeks ago and Schenley Park leaning towards the cards on ESPN first take yesterday

What Cowher fails to realize is that under his reign...especially the Post-Woodson/Lake years, the DB' s SUCKED. We would get fisted by Brady and anyone else who could spread the field out. Tomlin has come in and made a HUGE difference in the DB play. I expect a domination Sunday. Taylor is a very physical corner and has the size and speed to slow Fitz down....not to mention he will be getting over-the-top help from Troy and Clark. I want Fitz to feel some pain Sunday..I think he will. Ike held his own against a pretty physical, talented Dallas wide receiver this year... Ike will be fine.

different though when it's the super bowl, it HAS to be interesting because it's the game that's being played for everything, not to mention it's the only game that week. In the championship rounds, it's a big game but it's not nearly as big as the super bowl, so there's not that same pressure to create a huge buzz about the games.

I look at it with a different slant- I don't think Cowher WANTS the Steelers to win.

Why?

Because it tarnishes his image if it takes Tomlin two years what it took Cowher 14 to accomplish.

Of the three Steeler coaches that would have Lombardis, it would have taken Cowher the longest to achieve the goal, by far (Tomlin 2, Noll 6, Cowher 14).

Cards are the Fancy pick this year. They deserve it they are hot right now, BUT Noone has played a harder schedule than the Burgh and it will show tonight. Stillers are battle tested.

The Cards Played an Inexperienced and Tired Matt Ryan in the First Round and barely won.
Jake Delhomme probably played the worst game in Playoff History in the Second Round.
And had the Eagles D not been gassed i think the would have lost the NFC title game. Celek absoultely shredded the Cards D in the second half.

The Cardinals Defense has also given up 30+ points IN A HALF 4 times this year.

Everything has to go Perfect for the Cards to win tonight. I just dont see everything blowing up all at once for a solid Pittsburgh team.

See you all at the Parade. :subngtowl: :sucope:
