A very sound and to the point analysis, Mill. However I liked the comparison to SB XIV even more. It does bear a strong resemblance. But I'll take the end result anyday!!! I´m looking for a 31-16 final score after a closely fought first half and the Steelers running away with it in the second half.

great analysis again, mill. exact on all points. for the life of me, i CANNOT figure out why slow-a-foote is still playing over "flash" timmons. i know people will say that Lead Foote is better against the run but against a pass happy cardinal team, i'd take my chances with Flash.

Love the comparison to SB 14 but let's hope we do not have to overcome three interceptions to get the win. I am firm believer that it is an absolute crime that Timmons is not a starter this year. With more playing time and his athletic ability he would be better than Foote on stopping the run. I watched his playing time at Florida State and he was man among boys. Lets hope that Dick gets over this Foote fetish and lets the big dog eat.

Slow ILB's & lazy FWP line plunges is my worst fear in this gm. FWP has to be more patient for seams, like vs SD. About 35+ min TOP is the key in my opinion. I don't think Warner will be affected by edge rush so the inside push by Taunto, SlowaFoote & Timmons better be successful. Warner has had cases of bobble-itis in the past - we need to rock his 37-yr old world.

Mill, this might be one of your best yet and the quotation by CvC is a classic; who's next: Sun Tzu? Regardless, salient points, all.
Still, one must ask if Yinzers and Yahoos on this board like us can spot these deficiencies, shouldn't the HC, OC and DC have spotted and remedied the same? I believe they have but must hide the warts as best they can.
There must be no one good enough to beat out Ryan Clark and Timmons must be missing something which prevents him from supplanting Foote. This isn't little league where the Dad/Coach always plays his dim-bulbed Son above all others.
Hopefully, the Cards have more warts that can be exploited even more favorably.
Lastly, your main point is well-taken; this is shaping up to be no walk in the park. I sincerely hope the HC has the boys tearing up the fawning and doting hometown press clippings as opposed to believing them.

Excellent read. I like the parallels that were made with respect to the 79 Rams. Pittsburgh should have a decided advantage because of their ability to smother weak rushing attacks, and then come after the QB. After watching every Pittsburgh game this year I can't say that the Steelers will win in a blow out. As bad as the Cardinals have been at times, and as good as the Steelers have been, there is still plenty of room for this game to swing in either teams favor.

It is amusingly arousing to see some of Mill's favorite whipping boys of post game analysis' past(Tuman, Morey, and Cheezenhunt), according to Mill in this game, appear to be in the corner with a rye smile stroking their beards poised to exploit the Steelers in some round about way. Classic!

The insight, as is usually the case, is right on strategically. I do think focusing on the weaknesses is the way to approach what you need to work on...some of the extended discussion about hampton do not seem necessary to make your point. I know you like to put down those players you feel are our weaknesses...and I understand that...but i do not think that would be Tomlin's motivational tool...Hampton may not be the ideal man in the middle, but he is the Steeler Man in the Middle...and I hope he rises above all his shortcomings and Man's up, and provides a big game...it is mostly attitude...I hope Clark listens to both your calling out his weaknesses and Polamalu's praise for being his alter-ego...I agree that if Tomlin goes into the game without addressing these weaknesses and challenging the players to play within their skills, while recognizing and trying to make up for any weaknesses...the team will come together and get the job done. I am sure Tomlin has addressed most of these issues...the O coordinator calling and adjusting plays for a successful game is my biggest concern!

Tomlin and the Steelers have impressed me regularly this season...lets make it one more game.

Mill your astute analysis has been off the chain for this super bowl. Maybe it was making the pilgrimage to mecca for the AFC championship game that has motivated you. (not that your analysis isn't always good but you've taken it to another level) Should the Stillers hoist the Lombardi I believe you have to give Arians a week to bask in the glow before firing him.(though he MUST be replaced) I am a bit of a softy but I do believe the guy tries hard it's just he is an excellent WR coach and a terrible coordinator. (loved him working with Whiz 3 years ago he just can't coordinate the entire offense)

Thanks Deisel and Nel for yer kind words. Diesel, yer probably right.....the trip to Mecca really stoked my writing energy. Nellie, am not even sure what a pupae is, much less what a papillon might be, but i reckon i'll take it as a compliment.

Mill, a papillon is actually breed of toy spaniel having a long, silky, white coat with colored patches and erect or drooping ears that are fringed.

Yet, in my use it refers to the etymology of the word, which is French: a butterfly (< L papilio: see papilionaceous), from the shape of the ears.

I suppose that you never saw the classic Steve McQueen/Dustin Hoffman flick, Papillon. McQueen had a blue butterfly tattooed to his chest.

In the film, McQueen and Hoffman were imprisoned at the infamous French island-prison, Devil's Island, off the coast of French Guiana.

A pupa (Latin pupa for doll, pl: pupae or pupas) is the life stage of some insects undergoing transformation. Your writing has gone from pupa to butterfly this month, that is to say it has transformed (I used the plural by mistake in my post above).
