James Walker, of ESPN.com, reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said he is confident in his offensive line despite the fact they have suffered injuries this season. "It was almost a makeshift [during the season], but they have done a great job against tremendous defenses," Roethlisberger said.

I think they improved quite a bit from week 8 to week 16 and they have done well against defenses the calibre of the cardinals.If this was the eagles it would be a bit different, but im sure he feels pretty good about thier chances of playing pretty good against an avg d line.

They were solid against the bolts and gave ben alot of time on plenty of occasions in the baltimore game, boththose teams have much better front sevens then the birds!

Thier not great or even good , but thier much better then they were early on in the season.

I don't think Ben is lying. The O line has gotten a whole lot better despite all the injuries. They aren't the greatest but they are getting the job done when it counts... the postseason. I think Big Ben can have a big influence in the game in terms of leading the offense down the field. Last SB Big Ben didn't have a big impact on the game. This time Ben is back with a mission to make sure people know he is a great qb.

pretty much this. the line started off the season pretty horrid, but later in the season started to gel and play a lot better. i thought they had great games so far this postseason and are playing with more confidence as a unit. I'm not sweating the lack of running on baltimore, because seriously when have we even run the ball on the ravens?

Any QB when asked about his oline has to say those things...unless he wants to call them out. Now would not be the time to do that.

Ben has as much pride as any player on the team. He doesn't need any excuses, and he trusts there is enough for him to lead the team to victory.

He's not going to throw them under the bus before the SB.

I remember Peyton manning throwing his OL under the bus after we beat them (on the way to SB XL). He was squealing like a pig...protection breakdowns bla bla bla...a true leader in every sense. After reviewing the tape, ole peyton shouldn't throw stones as he threw some pretty shitty passes that game.

Can't wait till Sunday.

Improvement? These guys suck! Did any of you watch the Ravens game?
-Suggs destroyed Starks playing with one shoulder. Way to get out of your stance Maxipad!
-Colonoscopy had yet ANOTHER false start penalty. When he wasn't getting a penalty he was getting abused by Trevor Pryce a major has been. Is there a worse RT in the league?
-Stapleton--major regression since taking over for KenDoll...another guy who gets a least one stupid penalty a game...was completely abused by BloMe Ngata.
-Kemo-again stupid penalty--personal foul retaliation penalty. Showed no Samoan pride against BloMe Ngata

Parker had nowhere to run...this unit played like it was a preseason game not the AFC Championship against the rival Ravens!

ben had a lot of time on alot of plays in the ravens game as compared to having zero time in earlier matchups. yes he was still sacked an hit, but there were plenty of plays he could scan the field which was not the case earlier in the season.
In the first 3/4th of the season he never got time to scan the field like he did in the sandiego and raven playoff game.

Thier not great or good ,but if you cant see the improvement, your not watching...

You're going to tell McLovin this is a Pittsburgh Steeler offensive line? They're top 5 WORST OL in the league. They open no holes in the running game, Not on EITHER Suggs sack was Ben holding the ball, and the stupid mistakes these guys made against Baltimore IN THE AFC TITLE GAME were worse than a high school team. Starks can't even follow the snap count for christ sakes! Oh ya and....

The Steelers played the other top 7 defenses of the league a total of 9 games in terms of points per game this year:
Tennessee Titans - once
Baltimore Ravens - thrice
Philadelphia Eagles - once
New York Giants - once
Washington Redskins - once
Indianapolis Colts - once
New England Patriots - once

Ben has a very good point when he says they payed alot of good Ds this year.

Arizona's D is 28th in terms of points against. This will acutally be the worst Defense the Steelers have faced all year.

When you look at Yards per game - it looks even better. The Steelers have played the other top 11 teams 12 times:
Baltimore Ravens - thrice
Philadelphia Eagles - once
Washington Redskins - once
New York Giants - once
Minnesota Vikings - Nil
Tennessee Titans - once
Dallas Cowboys - once
Tampa Bay Buccaneer - Nil
New England Patriots - once
Indianapolis Colts - once
Cincinnati Bengals - twice

The Cardinals are 19th in terms of giving up yards per game. About as good as Houston or Jacksonville.

Ben is spot on with his assessment. The O-line should be fine in this game. They won't be great, but we should get plenty of chances on offense. Which is good becuase we will need them.

By the way, the Chargers Run Defense was better than Arizona's this year. How worried were you before the Charger game about the O-line.
