LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE

Postby 1fourdathumb » Sun Jan 04, 2009 3:52 pm

im talking about sprowles. this guy is so small but by far the fastest guy ive seen all season..gap control has to be on point as well as special teams...im rwally not so much worried about LT as i am gates...if we contain him put sufficient pressure on the guy from "toy story" we can win. :suxfingers: :

I agree that Sproles is the guy that worries me the most.

Especially on the screen passes. That is the one aspect we do not always defend well.

Easy guys, the outcome of this game will hinge on our inept offense. If they can stay out of the defenses way, not turn the ball over and score a touchdown or two the Steelers will win going away. Sproles looked tough Saturday night, but let's remember who he was running against. Trust me, neither Sproles, Rivers, L.T. or Gates will beat the Steelers. The only thing that can beat the Steelers is their offense along with their idiot OC, and which Ben shows up.

The score of the 1st game is misleading seeing that the Steelers dominated the game just had 4 bad sacks and inability to score a TD. We outgained them 400+ to like 230 and had the ball for 36+ minutes and Ben was 31 of 41. Too many pass attempts though.

Sproles doesn't worry me... unless he is in the open field (See IKE against Johnson in the Tit game) but The Stillers defense thrives off of playing backs like this guy, and they usually have 0 success against our D because our line plugs up gaps so well, that guys like Sproles cannot find a hold to be sprung from, and he's a back that NEEDS to be sprung.

I agree that the cutback lanes need to be taken care of against San Diego.

Sproles is a guy to watch out for. The part of his game that concerns me is the screen passes. When we blitz we have a tendency to lose contain on a RB that slips out of the back field. I am sure Berger will punt towards the side lines and try to sacrifice some yardage for hang time.

Remember a few other things about the last time we played SD:

13 penalties called against Pgh. Some were phantom calls but most just our own mistakes
Ernster was our punter and averaged 31 yds per punt
Heath Miller was out
Ben was still feeling the effects of the shoulder.

Does anyone know the status of Ben this week as well as Harrison?????

My prediction Pgh 27 SD 16 :sufootballhelmet:

Sproles will hurt you through the air. I think his damage will be mild on the ground.

Thing is, this is a game where SH, HW, and NW can really dominate and that is exactly what I expect to see happen.
