Conspiracy Theory #1

Postby Bomberman » Tue Dec 30, 2008 4:26 pm

I have a "friend" at work that thinks the Big Ben concussion is just a ploy. He states that looking at the hit that is wasn't hard enough to jiggle Ben's brains around and that the Steelers planned the whole thing all along. The reason, he states, is that this way Tomlin can keep the other teams guessing who will start. They will milk it out saying Ben is still wobbly, confused, can't focus, etc. until just before game time. That way the opposing team will have to game plan for two different quarterbacks.

Is this guy an idiot or are there similar thoughts flying around? Maybe, he's spent too much time working for the government!

he's an idiot

that was a lot of weight falling on Ben and his head clearly hit unprotected with a thud - the stretcher stuff is NFL policy.

This is the gayest thread I've ever seen. Some fans truly are fuckin' morons.

Did you see the way Bens hit off of the ground? Not only did he get crushed between 250 + pound men, running at full speed, but that speed and force threw him to the ground. Do you know what absorbed the hit? His head.

Tell your friend to get his head examined.

Bouncing off windshields is definitely going to shorten Ben's career (I hope not). I predict one day soon the doctors will tell 'ol pumpkin head his days in a football uniform are done.

the hit wasn't bad, but the landing was.

probably wasn't as serious an injury as it looked (needing a stretcher and all), but i'm guessing they were doing all that as a precaution. if it were a neck/spinal injury, permanent damage could be done if he's improperly moved, or even allowed to move under his own power

This is what happened to Steve Young. To many concussions, ended his career.

It could be we are begining to see the effects of his wreck, and the hits he has taken, and it is taking a toll on him. Possible that this hit would not have knocked him out the game a couple of years ago. Hope that's not the case, but he could be looking at a shortened career if the O Line doesnt do a better job. He could help himself by getting rid of the ball on some plays, but he won't do that, its part of his game.

Take a look at the hit Ben took just prior to the one that knocked him out of the game. I beleive THAT was the hit that actually hurt him. He was slammed to the turf much harder IMO. Maybe after the second hit felt like enough was enough. Who knows?

Also, HAPPY NEW YEAR to the entire Steeler Nation!!!!

Anyone else think Ben should switch to one of the new helmets?
Weren't they designed to help with the concussion problem?
