is Ben....
a victim of his own successes. do you think he may feel that just because he is "Big Ben" that he can do Micheal Jordan-esque plays every time? i mean jordan was great, but even he had a boring 14 foot jump shot every now and then. don't get me wrong i love ben, and wouldn't trade him for any other qb in the nfl, and i think he has the potential to become one of the best ever. but i think the mark of a truly great player, at any sport is one who consistently makes the easy play look easy, the difficult play look routine, and the impossible possible. i think at times ben just thinks he will be able to remove himself from the situation and make a great play.
granted, the offensive line has blown monkey balls all season, i can remember times when ben was in the shotgun and pass rushers damn near met the ball at him. and in these times i wish he'd just go down on his own rather than take a shot....just my opinion.

Re: is Ben....
Ok, do me a favor...PLEASE do not mention Ben and MJ in the same sentence, ever. Don't get me wrong, I like Ben. I like how he came onto this team and won a crapload of games his rookie season. I like his toughness, for the most part- I like how he takes accountability for his actions. HOWEVER. Ben has a lot of growing up to do on the field, both physically and mentally- ie, respecting his body, not taking unnecessary shots, getting rid of the ball- mentally in that he needs to learn the game, be a student...take a clue from Peyton Manning...Manning doesn't make the mistakes that Ben makes...just doesn't happen. Manning is a student, Ben is a great athlete who doesn't quite grasp the "educational" aspect of football.
I hope Ben heals well and plays next sunday. But truth be told, he scares the crap out of me all the time...

Re: is Ben....
I think Ben may believe he is Jesus after being resurrected from that motorcycle wreck.
But his bad games are really bad and his good games are really good (at least in part).
He's a bit of a mystery to me.
We pretty much all love him and he knows it, and I think that might work against his ability to become a better player.

was just pointing out that to be great, you need to make the little plays and not everything has to be a slam dunk, something that took mj quite awhile to learn as well.

I heard from Ben's roommate in college that he's a better baseball player than MJ. OK, so he was a bartender for a couple months in Columbus Ohio.

I heard Tronic was a better baseball player than MJ.
(Wasn't that really just a way to keep his name in the press and sell some jerseys with his name on the back?)
