View topic - Why was the clock running?

At 2:32 in the 2nd quarter Stillers completed an out route that stopped the clock. Next thing I see is the clock running and down to 2:18 when Ben snapped it again. The next play took the clock to 1:58 and the 2 minute warning.

Anyone know why they started the clock again after an out route that stopped the clock ?

I think the clock doesn't stop when the ball goes out of bounds except in the last 2 minutes of the 2nd quarter or the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter. If the clock temporarily stopped, it was probably because they gained a 1st down and the chain gang needed time to move the chains.

No stoppage in pro ball to move the chains.

No, but on OOB plays, the clock doesn't keep running- it momentarily stops and then continues once the ball is reset, IIRC.

I am not sure on this but my question is:

WHY was the clock still running with 15 seconds left at the end of the half in BUFF vs. NE while palyers were fighting? Why is the wistle not blown and the down re-set? it cost the BILLS a FG to tie it up at 3-3.

By rule, the clock keeps running.

I'm too lazy (and maybe stupid) to look it up, but the rule is there so that a team running out of time cannot stop the clock by pushing or shoving someone.

The clock DOES stop if a flag is thrown or if the team trying to run out the clock intentionally delays the game by refusing to allow a tackled runner to get up, kicks the ball away after it has been set in play, etc;

That asshat on Buffalo who took the bait and went after the New England player with ten seconds left of the clock was dumb as a tree. Almost as dumb as Anthony Smith! :surockin:
