Thanks - actually used it in the past iterations of Stillers.com and while I read here daily, only post rarely - don't really know why I don't post more
NO ONE - not even Cowher, is in the same league as Chaz - 4 SBs in 6 years with essentially the same players trumps all. Closest may be Lombardi, Walsh, Landry & Shula but I still think Noll is above all of them....then further back Parcells (not Bele-cheat EVER!!). That said, I agree Tomlin is off to a good start and I hope he'll be successful in PIT for many years to come ..... wouldn't it be great if he eventually got Noll like numbers thoughLeo wrote:- second: I like Tomlin a lot, but he does not yet belong even in the same discussion board as the Emperor Chaz. Agree though that Tomlin is off to a great start. I like his fire, and I like his No Excuses and Next Man Up philosophy.
Re: New Article: Is Tomlin The Man?
I find it a bit ironic that Tomlin's greatest and most immediate challenge is not with a player or an opponent but with one of his two most important coaches, i.e, OC Bruce Arians.
Obviously an 11-3 record masks a whole host of problems - the incredible esprit de corps among the defense and the individual offensive players' effort in overcoming the shocking gameplans and playcalls have allowed the Steelers to avoid the dramas that the media love even more than the game of football itself (see: Cowboys, Dallas).

Tomlin is looking like the man right now. 11-3 and the toughest schedule is pretty impressive....even though the wins have been a little nerve wrecking...I personally think we are going to smash the titans...in a tough all around game...but i really hope they put together a solid offensive plan if they play the colts in the playoffs...arians has not inspired much confidence yet and Tomlin has not seemed to help him stay grounded...I agree with someone earlier saying that handling the O coordinator may be his biggest challenge.

A 37-yard prayer on the last play of the game against the best defense in the history of the game? Maybe that's close; it's just a matter of interpretation. It seems that Coach Noll was more confident giving his Curtain 60 yards to defend than sending his punting team out there with a chance to blow the game with a blocked punt or something. The special teams were having a lousy day.

Hines Ward is going to get fined for this, you know.

Couldn't agree more about Arians being the downfall of this football team. I'm watching the Titans game right now and the play calling, while overall atrocious, seems to get even worse when they get inside the red zone. It's the most predictable, gutless play calling I've ever seen. I'm sitting on my couch and I know what's coming... pretty sure the Titans do too. What's wrong with running a play action on 1st down inside the red zone? They're way too content to play for field goals and put the pressure on our defense. Heath gets nowhere near the number of looks he should. And on the defensive side... when the hell are we going to see Timmons get the start over Foote?? I can't watch him overpursue and whiff on any more easy tackles...

The only thing Tomlin needs to handle re: Arians is his pink slip.
