CAN HEATH MILLER JUMP?

Postby 1fourdathumb » Wed Dec 10, 2008 4:03 pm

just a comment....i love me some heath miller, but once just once i'd love to see him hurdle a would- be tackler. have you ever seen anybody ever tackle him high? watching the replay on nfl network and just about ever other game he has played, the defender dives at his feet and he bends over and is tackled. he's still a very very clutch receiver, i just thought it would look awesome. prove me wrong heath, show me that white men can jump!!

Great point. I remember one play in particular last sunday where he was in open space with nobody but a 185 lb DB in his way. The DB laid down in front of him, and Heath did his very best to get lower and lay down beneath him. One little hurdle, even a high step, and he's got 10+ more yards. dumb.

Yes! It seems that Matt Spaeth has also acquired this habit. It bothers me even more with him because he is freakin' huge and is never going to get lower than some midget DB trying to chop him down at the knees! Jump, man, jump! Or if you can't jump, just take a big giant step over the guy!

Nah, I don't think that's true.

Everytime I see him get tackled, he's got on guy at his legs, one at shoulder level.

Good enough for me. So throw him the damn ball, ben.

Tight ends aren't that nimble as a position. Getting airborne is insanely dangerous as far as ball security goes. Not having your feet on the ground takes away your leverage and your ability to brace against strip attempts. Homework assignment: watch how many fumbles occur when a player is diving or falling (including the Spaeth fumble against Dallas) this weekend.

Don't get me wrong. I don't expect Miller to look like Barishnakov, but I do recall James Harrison hurdling a would-be tackler after a pick earlier this year. Tight ends may not be as nimble as Barry Sanders, but I don't think a minimum of athleticism is too much to ask. I like him getting low and delivering a blow if someone tries to stand him up. I just never seem to see them do it. They go low, he goes lower, the play goes nowhere. Just my opinion.

White men don't jump, especially 6'5" 260#ers or more.

Soft hands Heath will be a factor today, without gay jumping, he'll punish.
