AFC Playoff scenario put to rest post.

Postby LambertoCincoOcho » Tue Dec 09, 2008 8:03 pm

Tennessee
Pittsburgh
AFC East winner probably New York
AFC West winner probably Denver
Indy..playing well very easy schedule
Ravens

Best hope for Dolphins and Pats fans is to beat out the Jets for the title. Colts and Ravens are just too strong right now to give up one of the two wild card spots. Steelers need to win out and hope the Titans drop two more games for the #1 seed. It looks like the final game between Colts and Titans could be meaningful. Final analysis: Only 1 AFC East team will make it to the show.

Dude you must have a crystal ball or something. Tell me this; will the Lions make it in the NFC, or can you not make a real tricky prediction like that?

I personaly think the Gaytriots have a real good shot at making the playoffs. Miami can't realy make it with tie-breakers, they have to hope for major slip-ups by both NYJ & Pats, so that last game of the year against Jets will be the Dolphins playoff game to cap a wonderfull comeback year! Plus, then the national media can sloober all over Billacheats nuts about getting to the playoffs without Tom_the_Lady.

Actually,

The Patriots have a horrid chance of making the playoffs, and don't even control their own destiny. They need a lot of losing help (particularly from the Jets) to get in.

Thanks, Zapunto. Great site. I look forward to seeing it next week, after we beat the birds...

Pats have no shot at winning the East IMO. They would have to go undefeated and both the Jets and Dolphins would need to go 2-1 down the stretch. Being that both Miami and the Jets play each other the last game means either Miami has to lose to either San Francisco or Kansas City and beat New York, or the Jets need to lose to either Buffalo or Seattle than beat Miami. I find either unlikely. I think the Jets and Dolphins each win their next 2 games and the season finale will determine who wins the division.

For the Steelers to win the #1 seed they need to win out and Tennessee must lose either to Houston or Indianapolis.

I say Pats win out and the Ravens go 1-2 down the stretch losing to us and at Dallas and miss the playoffs. New England gets the #6 seed with an 11-5 record. Jets win the division and #3 seed by winning out and beating Miami in the process. Steelers get #2 seed even though they beat the Ravens and Titans and Browns to finish 13-3. Titans crush Houston and Colts play without their starters in the finale giftwrapping Tennessee to a 14-2 record. Denver finishes 9-7 and wins the west.

1. Titans (14-2)
2. Steelers (13-3)
3. Jets (11-5)
4. Broncos (9-7)
5. Colts (11-5)
6. Pats (11-5)

Baltimore finishes 10-6 and gets to play the Tom Brady led Patriots next year along with a healthy Peyton Manning and the Colts. We get the Jets without Favre who has retired and Tennessee which takes a step back with Collins regressing at QB next year.

1st round of playoffs - Colts crush Broncos again. Jets dominate Patriots.
2nd round - Titans get Colts who will not lose to the Titans 3 times in one season. Steelers get the Jets and Favre throws 6 INTs as Pittsburgh wins.
AFCC game - Steelers host the Colts. Steelers avenge midseason loss.
