I agree Mailman. I don't know if the announcers even picked up on the fact the Ed Reed just slid to the ground and was never touched. Randel El grabbed the ball out of his hands. This should have been ruled Redskin ball. The refs suck this year.

That fucking "tuck rule" play killed me. It was clear on the replay that Romo was trying to secure the football with his right hand and knocked it loose with his left. There was no pass attempt. Good article. GO STEELERS!!!

Sorry, but a) it was not that clear but b) the "Tuck Rule" is clear...the ball has to be tucked back securely in before it can be ruled a fumble.
You may hate the rule, but it's the rule.
Re: New Article: Post-It Notes from The Mailman....
Actually, I thought it was pretty clear. You might want to look at it again. However, you are right, I do hate the rule, and maybe it was covered under it.
Re: New Article: Post-It Notes from The Mailman....
As for Reed's INT, IIRC, he was touched by a Redskin just before he went into his slide.
Again, you may not like it, but that's being down by contact...the same way Matt Hasselbeck was down by contact in Super Bowl XL on that one non-fumble, even though the guy who contacted him was in no ways responsible for him hitting the ground.

I still have the game on tape- I'll look it over and see if I change my mind.
I hate the rule too, BTW...it was a rule that was supposed to remove ambiguity and has instead appeared to increase it.

LOL- some of us do, anyway!
Re: New Article: Post-It Notes from The Mailman....
You're probably right, Jeemie. The "fuck rule" probably covers it. I'm still outraged at a rule that was enacted to help Tom Brady and Bill Belicheck get into the damn super bowl. Without that ruling in that game, we may never have heard from them again...

Correct me if I'm wrong ( I frequently am) but didn't Reed slide feet first? I only saw it briefly and couldn't remember. Anyway, my point...sliding feet first is essentially surrendering and is considered down. Usually you see quarterbacks doing it but it applies to any football player carrying the ball. Just a different perspective.

That could be true too.
Although I still believe Reed was touched as well.

Good article Still Mailman. I agree with the bullshit they call the tuck rule. I bet the refs made that rule up as brady did it because shady brady and bellicheat told them to make sure we win the game. What cheaters. Karma bit him in the ass! Hopefully our Super Bowl qb plays better than the rookie qb baltimore calls joe faggo! GO STEELERS!!!!
Re: New Article: Post-It Notes from The Mailman....
Good article, Mailman
-- agree on Berger; he is a complete liability. Lot of potential to hurt the team in January. Dude just does not have the leg to boom it, nor the touch to get it inside the 10.
-- right again on Ray Ray; would love to see Hines take that thug down
-- the tuck rule was correctly called on that play. Yes, it is a bullshit rule, but one that was correctly applied in this instance

I didn't see the game, but if Ed Reed was laying on the ground when Randle El grabbed the ball out of his hand, Randle El probably touched Reed while he was going for the ball. If he touched him at all while the ball was in Reed's grasp, the play is over at that moment.
