Patience, patience....
Suddenly, everyone has discovered that Gary Russell is a player who can - and will - contribute. And now all the nervous Nellies who six games into last season were claiming that the draft class was a bust have come to understand that Woodley is an emerging superstar, Timmons is likely to be one, too.....and Gay will probably be a starter and major contributor in the defensive backfield. So much for last year'c premature claims of gloom and doom.
Now, some of us are seeing that Limas Sweed is starting to show the potential that we'd hoped for. Like Timmons, he came out of college early....and both of them had extremely limited college experience. Timmons started for one year.
I don't think any of these guys were rotting on the bench as they learned the pro game. Sweed's bonehead play last night was simply one example of the risk of playing rookies and twenty year olds. And that's why you bring some rookies along quickly, and others take more time.
Last year's draft was not a bust. It's far too early to evaluate this year's draft. And no one - not even Timmons - is rotting on the bench. The universe is unfolding exactly as it should.

Re: Patience, patience....
Kind of a out of nowhere post, but I agree. It takes a few years to find out what you got.
Re: Patience, patience....
Rarely used players can be effective in mid to late season as their legs are fresh and their skills are not degraded by injury.
Their playing tendencies and their use by their team are also less transparent to opposing coaches than are starting players.
Yet, I do respect what Russell has accomplished recently. Let's see if that can continue.
