HARD HAT LIST - STEELERS VERSUS CHARGERS

Postby Homer J » Sun Nov 16, 2008 11:14 pm

1. Polamalu. All over the place. Magnificent interception that arguably no one else in the NFL could have made. Several key plays for losses. And a touchdown on the final play of the game. Fuck the refs. It was a touchdown. And this was as fine an overall performance as Troy has had in a very long time.

2. Silverback. Forced fumble for safety. Key interception to kill San Diego drive. Another signature performance by the Steelers' MVP.

Honorable mention: Ben, Russell, Spaeth.

Your thoughts?

harrison. nuff said

polamalu definitely would be honorable mention, but if not for harrison's play, we lose today's game vs the san diego refs

James Harrison hands down. Troy played an amazing game and probably had one of the most impressive INTs ever, but Harrison was in on every play. Both his plays on D (the sack, forced fumble and safety all at one time) and the INT near the end of the game came when the team needed big plays to stay alive. Without his tenacity, the outcome would have been completely different. That's a Hard Hat effort at its best.

How about a Defensive and offensive?

HINES WARD, AND JAMES HARRISON.

I don't know about you guys, but Hines Ward is possibly the best player to ever put on a Black and Gold Steelers' uniform.

I think Silverback. Pola missed some tackles. At least one, I remember. Probably more.

Troy may have missed some tackles but at least when he does he is going full speed trying to buckle his target. The interception he made was incredible...easily could've been reversed...but awesome play. Harrison solid choice as well Homer J. DOH!

James Harrison.

Ward needed to have a good game just to make up for all the penalties he received.

James Harrison for being able to rally the defense to overcome the blunders of Arian's offense(i.e. not being able to score on 4th and 1 for a second straight week)

harrison missed some tackles and allowed some long plays. was out of position a couple times. you notice polamalu because he is such a lightning rod and so fast.

polamalu does more just being on the field standing there than any other player in the game. offenses have to constantly try to figure out where polamalu is as he can change the entire game with one play.

that being said harrison is a monster and without either player we would have lost that game.

but dont underestimate polamalu. Offenses have to account for him always and that changes the offense. And dont overestimate harrison.... watch the plays...he messes up when he is not asked to rush the qb.

Like the time he dropped into coverage and intercepted Rivers but was unable to take it to the house. What a screw off.

1. Harrison
2. Spaeth
3. Polamalu

... but I'm getting a little tired of Pola's human torpedo act. If you're gonna do that at least make sure it has an effect. Twice the RB barely had to make a step to avoid it and got a chunk of extra yards.

Silverback and Pola both well deserving. Not scoring any TD's takes the luster out of the players on offense that could be considered.

no 4nic8 ...he whiffed a couple times and let decent gains happen as he was out of position. but he makes the big plays too.

troy forced a fumble and recovered it making seven points on his own. refs fucked that one royally ....

troy also got an interception OF EPIC PROPORTIONS.....level of difficulty on that int. out of 100 points? 100 ....level of difficulty of harrisons int. out of 100? about a 30.

you can say harrison caused 5 pts.....2 on his own and another three indirectly. polamalu caused 7 directly on his own. you dont figure that because we had the game under wraps already....but if we hadnt....polamalu would be the better man.

except for the fact the refs huddled up and over ruled the ref call on the field. incorrectly and they said they made a mistake after game...

but that does not change the fact that polamalu actually did more than harrison to win that game.

dont fuck with polamalu ....he is our best defensive player.....followed closely by harrison.

Steelers' Harrison NFL Defensive Player of Week
Wednesday, November 19, 2008
By Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Steelers linenbacker James Harrison, who had a sack for a safety and a 33-yard interception return against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Week.

Harrison's sack, his team-high 12th, resulted in a fumble and a safety against Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers. His interception return near the end of the first half resulted in a field goal

It's not even debatable.
