What a debacle. I basically ended the season for the Saints and Raiders in September. I thought the Redskins would at least throw me a bone in the late afternoon game. Then they were outscored 25-7 by Brian Schottenheimer's offense after the first half 2 minute warning. Just mind boggling.

Trying to justify my picks seems pointless. Obviously at this juncture I am just guessing. Maybe I will get a feel for this again. For now I might as well throw darts. Or maybe get a chicken to peck my picks. I am again enticed by the line given to a trio of road favorites. A mistake if history is any indicator.

Best Bet

San Francisco 49ers (-7.0) over Minnesota Vikings

The Vikes split a couple of close games against the Jags and Colts. The Niners are not the Jags or Colts. Could this be a letdown game after big wins over the Packers and Lions? Ill count on Jim Harbaugh not letting that happen.

Others

Detriot Lions (-3.0) over Tennessee Titans

I've already gone down once with the Lions. Their secondary is an issue and the running game is non-existent. Problems everyone knew existed heading into the season even though injuries have made the defensive backfield even more of a disaster. The Lions have been unable to overcome their weaknesses because Matt Stafford and Magatron have been out of synch. A trip to Tennessee provides the perfect opportunity to break out. The Titans seem to have no identity under Mike Munchak. Chris Johnson has only gained 21 yards on 19 carries so far this season. Jake Locker should provide the tonic needed by the Lions beleaguered secondary.

Houston Texans (-1.5) over Denver Broncos

Mile High is a tough place to play. Giving up only a single point with the Texans is just too good to pass up. The Texans haven't really played anybody yet so their being undefeated is expected. Of course everyone also expected the Patriots to be undefeated. The Texans have just been so efficient in victory. Especially the defense. The alarming lack of arm strength displayed by Peyton Manning on MNF is icing on the cake even though it caused this line to move from the Texans getting a point on Monday afternoon.
